The Fear Game

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

The Fear Game

The Fear Game

Okay, so this is kind of like the "One Lie Game" that I made, but this is to give a bit more variety. Like the last game, it helps us all get to know each other a bit better, but this time focusing on fears. Sometimes to get over our fears, we need to talk about them and know that is what we fear.

So basically, create a list of ten fears, with 9 fears that you actually fear, and only one that is a false fear. So the pattern is swapped from the last game. Then we can talk about our fears if they are guessed, too. If you are guessed, you can make another list if you wish. Have fun, and here is mine!

My Fear List:

1. Open spaces

2. Darkness

3.  Spiders

4. Low ceilings

5. Cats

6. Suffocation

7.  Decision making

8. Lightning

9. Water

10. Talking on the phone

Nine of these are real (among my hundreds of fears) and only one is false. Good luck! And remember, after the false one is discovered in any list, feel free to talk about the real fears, it really does help.

Hmmm, is it 5, big dogs? Everything on there seems pretty scary to me, haha.

And nope, I actually am afraid of roller coasters. I revealed the lie in a reply to my original post.

Is it 1?

No. I have an extreme case of arachnophobia (I'm not sure if I spelled that right) that has gotten to the point that I run screaming front the room if I see a little black dot on the wall. (About 92% of those dots turned out to be flys.)

Hmmm what about 4?

Nope. That one's hard to explain, but I can say it's things under me collapsing, not on top of me.

@Ashlee G.

Nope, it's not 4. I actually think that that might be the strongest one for me on this list. On here I don't feel that shy, since you guys can't really speak to me. But I find taht recently I've been almost making a thread or comment, then just stop and decide not to. This fear is a big thing in real life, though it has gotten better since I joined theater and was around people a lot. I used to be SUPER shy, but now I'm just shy and awkward around certain people. Whenever I talk to someone I really admire, or like,  or just want to know better, my shy side comes out, and there's a little voice in the back of my head going "but if you say this they might think of you in a negative way, and then you'll never become friends with them, or get to know them better!" This is happening in particulr with this one girl at theater, whom I look up to SO MUCH. I used to know her pretty well, then it started fading away. We barely ever see each other or talk, and all I want is for her and I to become friends again, but that's a different story. Thank you though for saying that I'm outgoing, that really made my day!

@Savvy

Not seven or two! I am afraid of really big dogs that I don't know; I think that they might bite me or tackle me.

And not tornadoes either. A long time ago one passed our house TWO BLOCKS AWAY. A tree in our yard fell over, but nothing big happened, except for the addition of a new fear for me.

@Leafmist

Not darkness. I'm still scared something will pop out from being  the corner. Mainly a variety of villains from books and movies, from the Wicked Witch to Voldemort. And if I'm outside, then it'll be wolves, big dogs (see above), just a man, or literally anything that can run fast.

I can entirely relate with public speaking! Consider this: I once - and still am to a point - a little girl who when someone would try to say hi and sit next to me, I would panic, turn red, and get up and frantically walk away. Social anxiety at its finest... Nowadays I can handle a bit, I mean, I do competitions in FBLA and stuff, but it isn't perfect. I cannot go to a dance without being on the edge of the circle unless someone shoves me in. I cannot speak in front of a crowd to run for ASB Secretary without getting a cracked voice and sweaty palms. All I can see, even without looking at the crowd of fewer than 40 kids is eyes, so many judgmental eyes. I was wrong, but alas, that is how my mind processes it all. So yeah, I entirely understand the struggle, that has to be one of my biggest problems too. Although now I think it is less of a fear and more of an anxiety. But no, you are welcome!

Also, with what you said to Leafmist, I too am terrified of the dark and what lies in it. Along with "darkness" as a metaphorical term, like evil and impurity in the world. That is... my second biggest fear, I think. The dark/darkness. But oh, it is a struggle I think we all faced at some point in our lives. For some of us, that struggle sticks around. It just means we are more alert and observant about what our world really is and the dangers within.
