It’s been a long time.
Or so it seems to me.
For nearly two years l’ve been a part of this place.
But you don’t care about that, do you? No, you want to know what the title of this thread implies.
Because…..
Yes, l am leaving.
Shush. Let me explain.
See, l've been thinking about this for a ridiculously long amount of time, nearly a year at least. It probably seems very out of the blue to you, but it’s not. This site simply isn’t fun for me--hasn’t been for a long while. I’ve known for a very long time that l was going to leave, that there wasn’t a whole lot of use in sticking around.
But l stayed in spite of it all. I stayed for those good old days and all of the people who have left, all of the people that l used to know. But in the end you gotta realize that days are gone and those people are gone and in the end, the only reason l'm staying here is because of some weird sort of nostalgia. This place brings no joy to me any longer, l am sad to say. It isn’t you, it’s me. I've changed. I’ve moved on. And now it’s time to go. I ain't feelin’ the love anymore.
Don’t feel sorry for me, don’t feel sorry for yourself. This was going to happen sooner or later. I don’t belong here any longer. I did, perhaps, a long time ago, but that time is gone. This place doesn’t belong to me any longer. It’s yours. It’s not for that past. It’s for the future.
Keeping this short--walls of nostalgic text aren’t fun to through anyways. Throwing out a general message to everyone, though it isn’t less special because your name isn’t on it, it’s for you and don’t you forget that.
Just--thank you. Thank you. For everything. All of you have been a huge part of my life for the past two years, for a part of my life where l thought l was falling apart. You all are wonderful people. Don’t forget it. And when the world comes knocking at your door to tell you what a loser you are, throw lemons at it because l told you different and you know better.
Go light the world on fire. Just because you can.

That was beautiful, Shadow. I always wished I could get to know you better. You seemed sort of untouchable, a wonderful CBer so woven in to the magic of the CB that I couldn't separate you from it enough to talk to you. But I'll miss you.

Wherever you're going . . . approach it with the same dry humor you always do. Don't forget about this little train on the rural track, even when you ride on the bigger ones. And keep slaying those word counts.

Shadow DRAGON, I don't know you. I may have seen you on one or two threads, but I don't really know you. But when I read your post, I felt really sad. More then a-cber-is-leaving sad. My point is, your leaving post was well written. I wish I could have read your writing writing. Actually, Ashlee said you had done a ski lodge. Can someone please give me a link? I would love to read it. I wish I could have known you better, but since I can't, I'll just say that you'received a fabulous writer and say goodbye. I'll see you 2019!
