Thoughts About Ads Promoting Self-love and Diversity (I'll try not to get off-topic)
Is it just me, or have there been a lot of ads that are promoting self-love lately? I use YouTube when I'm on the computer to listen to music, and I counted at least four ads that did this. Dove had a commericial that featured women of all body types, races, and ages- I think it was for a beauty cleanser or something. Covergirl did the same thing for a mascara ad, and for the first time had a male covergirl. There was another commericial that did the same thing, I think it was perfume, and another one that I can't remember what it was about. I think this is awesome! What about you?
I was looking in the mirror the other night, and as I did so, I think I realized for the first time that loving myself is an option. If people can have epiphanies like that after FOUR positive ads, then what would happened if all of them were like that? How much better would our world be?
I don't even know what we were talking about, but I was talking to my mom the other day, and she said something along the lines of, "Wouldn't it be ironic if Donald Trump was the one that improved relations between races/cultures/sexualities?" Maybe that's the reason these ads are coming up more- we're finally sticking together and trying to fix problems that should've be fixed years ago. Idk guys, I just have a lot of hope right now.
Stay strong, we'll get through these next few years together.

EXACTLY. I saw Budwieser's ad that was on during the Super Bowl (if you haven't seen it, do so now) and I realized that the Democrats in our government-with a Republican congress and Trump and all-aren't very powerful, but these ads are supportive of immigration, same-gender relationships, etc. and that's very powerful because everyone sees ads. They're kind of a part of our culture now.
There's a wonderful Coke ad along the same lines, that started sometime last fall, I think. It includes "America, the Beautiful," with the lines sung altenately in various languages other than English.

Oh, I saw both of these! I think the Coke one was the other ad I couldn't think of. Top!

My favorite ads during the superbowl were the Google Home one, with all the different types of families and people. It made me really happy.
Also this other one which showed so many different faces. I don't even know what the ad was for, but it had words saying things about how no matter where you came from, who you love, how or if you worship, we are all people, human beings, and our differences make us stronger. That one spoke to me.
It reminded me of the Olympics ad, the one with the poem 'Human Family' by Maya Angelou. It showed people from all over the world.

I liked the Audi car company ad about equal pay and treatment for women. You know, "Do I tell my daughter that despite her education, she will be valued less than a man?... Or maybe I can tell her something else." I don't really like that these wonderful ideas are being used by corporations to make money, though.

^^^ This.
At the end of the day, they're only advertisements. The messages they're spreading are nice, sure, but the end goal is just to make money and get more customers. Raising awareness for important issues is nothing more than a pleasant side-effect for the companies making these commercials. Does that necessarily matter? Maybe, maybe not.

I saw the Audi one, too! Oh yeah, that one was awesome! I agree with you on the last part.

The Coke ad was great! I also liked the Audi commercial where there was a girl in a race against a lot of boys and she won.
