Well, I don't really have a set way of doing things, but basically I rule things out until I have an animal to use! For example:
If you said you liked Autumn, it means that your spirit animal doesn't need to have a cold climate, or a warm climate to live in, (so I rule out polar bears, arctic foxes, canals, ect.)
If you said you would describe yourself as trustful, your spirit animal would probably live in a group or a pack.
If you said you would like to run extremely fast, you, well, would be a fast animal!
If you said you liked to socialise, that probably means your spirit animal doesn't live alone.
If you said you like the day time, your spirit animal is diurnal.
Which means I choose an animal lives all sorts of weathers, lives in a pack, runs fast, socialises, and lives during the day!
Not as hard as it seems!
