Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Religion. Just to

Religion. Just to let you know, Christianity is a pathway to a relationship with God and Heaven. Read the Bible and think again about what you believe. I'll go in depth later, but please tell me about what your religions are and what you believe. :)

I don't think that any of us here on the Chatterbox know the answer to that question, Pirocks. Only God decides who gets to go to heaven.

Absolutely.

Julia, I believe GOD does not decide if we go to heaven. We decide if we go to heaven.

I believe GOD wants heaven to be filled with people who love him.

WE decide. We choose the path of the ultimate life. GOD cannot choose that for us.

The Bible says, "God is love." In another place, it says he is, "The way and the truth and the life," (or something of that sort). I am Christian, but I am NOT one of those Christians who believe that all atheists go to hell.  Maybe, those verses imply that God is... everything good. Maybe goodness is such a strong force in the universe, it's alive, and the most powerful being to ever have existed. Maybe that's all God is; goodness.

That's what I believe. And maybe Jesus was so pure, so good, so loving that he was essentially goodness and purity in a human body, and, having never sinned, was essentially God.

I believe that, too. Maybe, as long as someone  strives  to do what is right, they go to heaven. And maybe, if someone claims to believe in God, but is evil, the God they believe in is not really God, but someone else entirely, and so they don't go to heaven.

Maybe all gods of any monotheist religeon who are portrayed as benevolent are one and the same, and merely worshipped differently.

I believe every one of the 'maybes' I've put down. I hope this doesn't offend anyone. If it did, I'm sorry.

This is a very hard question/topic, because we, as humans, don't know and will never know who God lets into heaven.  SuDoR, truthfully, I don't think people who are jerks and murders say prayers, becuz if they believed in God, I don't think they would be doing that stuff, but who am I to say?  I think that that jerk would NOT be on the 'good list' becuz he is disobeying a commandment.  "You Shall not Kill".  The commandments are like guidelines to Heaven! :) You can't just believe in God and go to Heaven, but again, I don't know that for sure.

*looks helplessly for Mary W. or Mary Jo or other fellow Catholics*  They left me! Their points are so good and right on.  I am not good at debating about religion, so I will try to stop...

PS I really am not offended, Ima and everyone else.  I like hearing everyone's opinion, and I like to try to correct them. :)  jk.  But anyway... yeah.

Each person has a right to his/her own beliefs, so no one should tell another what is "right" or "wrong." Religion is a matter of faith and belief. You can say what you believe, but whatever that is might not be true for others.

I don't agree with what you said, Admin. It does not make logical sense. If I believe it's all right to murder people and express desires to murder someone, then are you going to tell me what I believe is wrong and dangerous, or are you going to say, "Oh well, that's just what Melissa believes. To each his own." If I believe that it's all right to abuse children and occasionally hit my children, are you going to tell me to stop it, or are you going to say, "That's just how Melissa is. I shouldn't interfere with her beliefs."

So I must respectfully disagree with you, Admin. We do have a right to tell each other what is right and what is wrong because there are things in life that are ultimately right and ultimately wrong, not to mention that we have freedom of speech. We should tell each other what is right and what is wrong, because it is the "right" thing to do.

When I said no one has the right to tell someone else what is right or wrong, I was referring to religious beliefs about going to heaven. That was the topic of discussion.

Murder and abuse are not religious beliefs. I do, of course, 100 percent, believe in being a law-abiding citizen and being kind to everyone.

Cheers for Ima! I agree with you sooo much. And, I guess there is no actual proof that you can see today that is flesh and blood that proves God exists, like Pirocks wants, but there are several things that have happened in the past that I think have proved that He exists. I don't have the kind of proof that Pirocks wants that makes me believe, but I just trust in Him and trust that He is there. My mom has an interesting theory on how both evolution and creation could have happened. In the Bible it says that one day in Heaven is one thousand years here. So maybe the "day" that God created man, was actaully 1,000 years, and he just kept adding on to man and perfecting him and at the end of that "day" he had man the way he is today (as in not like a monkey-ape thing). That's what I think could have happened. And for anyone who doesn't know God (no offense, please, I'm begging you), you're in my prayers.

This is a very interesting topic. I'll try to make it fun and un-argumental. Anyways, I'm a Christian (ditto with Alexa) and I believe in going to heaven. And then there are people who believe in evolution and the big bang theory. Well, maybe God created the world using a big bang and created us by evolving us. That's all I'm saying. Oh, you know what else I'm saying? I'm saying that all these I'm are annoying because the apostrophe, AKA this:' sometimes refuses to be pressed. Now I'm not so sure what I just said makes sense. Anyways, I'll leave it as is, and if anyone wants to contemplate it, feel free to! Laterz!

I'm also a Christian, Olive, and I get what you're saying about evolution. Lots of Christian Scientists do believe in evolution, including the head of the human genome project. (My dad was telling me about him.) I think a lot of people who say evolution is a pack of evil lies don't know enough about it. God could have created us any way He wanted to, and to say we know how it was done is to limit Him. I don't know yet what I think about that. I know I don't think the seven days are literal. But I don't want to make an uneducated decision.

What I do know I believe in is a God that created me and loves me and died for me (and everyone else. ;-)). I believe everything in the Bible is true, even though I don't understand all of it. And maybe God can't be seen or heard, but I think the truth of the Bible can be proven.

Please, nobody get mad at me for this. I am just stating my beliefs.

Me, I'm a Catholic, and I have true faith in God.  I don't always get to church, but I go to CCD, and I pray/ read the Bible (when I find time in my hectic life. :P ).  Anyway I believe that being religious is important, and those who aren't are missing out on something wonderful in life, a relationship with God.

My religion, I don't even know what it is. I asked my mom once, and I've forgotten. Anyway, my religion isn't very common. I don't believe in God. I believe in other gods/goddesses, like Athena, Oden and Thor. My dad likes to tell me stories about Oden mostly.

The days of the week use to be called Sunsday, Moonsday, I don't remember what Tuesday was called, Odensday, Thorsday, Freiasday and Saturnsday. People slowly changed them to what they are now.

My religion has most to do with nature and magic. Magic is a part of nature. I believe that a big dragon is wrapped around the universe, biting its tail, protecting us (and other life forms that may exist on other planets) from harm.

And please don't say anything about me being wrong. I'm sorry, but I have been arguing with a bunch of boys in school about what's wrong and what's right. I am very tired of it.

I am kinda late but if anybody reads this, my religion is Christianity!! Yes I am a Christian!! We used to go to this church called FLBC but we recently stopped going there because we all needed more of the fire of the Holy Spirit to come down on us!! We are currently going to a church called Gospel Lighthouse!!! My relationship with the Lord has greatly improved!!! I wish I could tell more people about God!!!
