I'm "new" here, been getting Cricket for about 5 years, but haven't really gone on the site. I'm liking what I'm seein' so far.

Anyway, my complaint is that I feel somewhat lonely right now. School just got out and I'm already missing it. My friends and I are getting together on Monday, though, but I sort of miss my teachers. I go to a small school so I know them pretty well.

Other than that...things are goodWink

LOL! Yeah, everyone says that when I tell 'em I'm out, but we have to go start back at the end of August. And you still have six more weeks of school?! Do you go to a public school? Our public schools only have 2 weeks left. Since I don't go to pub. school, I get out earlier than all my friends and most kids in the US, resulting in everyone hating me Tongue out

Yeah, I LOVE HOMESCHOOLING!!!! It's really awesome. My family gets to travel more freely which is very cool. I'm enrolled in Seton Home Study, a Catholic homeschooling program. Most of the people on here are homeschooled, right? I also get to come on chatterbox alot.

@ Lucky homeschoolers who don't get out in 6 weeks

I hate (hate hate hate hate) school, but I can't imagine homeschooling. Isn't it, I dunno, lonely? How do you make friends? And how can you live with your parents so much? (I mean, I love my parents, but they can really get on my nerves, so I can't picture being with them every day all day long.)

Anyway, one more Monday down! Whoohoo!

Good questions. In my biased opinion - yes, homeschooling is lovely!!! I'd elaborate, but that would be rubbing it in.

About the friends, um, well, I'm not really sure how to answer that. I'll be frank - I don't have many (any) friends - but I do get lots of social oppurtunities. There are a lot of classes and social things for homeschoolers, and we just joined a homeschool co-op. So to answer that question, if you're gifted in the art of making friends, it's easy whether or not you're homeschooled, and if you're not, it's hard whether or not you're homeschooled.

Parents? Well, first of all, homeschooling doesn't rely entirely on parents. You can do a lot without your parents helping. Sometimes it's like they just set up the things you need and want and then you do them. In my homeschool my mom does do a lot with us, but homeschooling doesn't always mean that your parents are your teachers.

If you're interested in homeschooling, I'd suggest checking out 'The Teenage Liberation Guide' by Grace Llewellyn. It's a really good book that helps you get started.

We do, too!!  My family loves to travel places while kids are still in school so those places aren't as busy!  I have a few Seton subjects.  Have you been homeschooled your whole life?  Does your mom homeschool you?  Mine does.  I started homeschooling when I was in third grade.

Yeah, ever since I found out about Chatterbox, I've been coming a lot, too, even though I should be doing school... He He!!!
