Chatterbox: Down to Earth

More politics.

More politics.

Ok, I'm really not trying to offend. I understand why you all are pretty upset, even if you liked Trump over the alternative. Most of us (and no offense meant to those to whom this does not apply) do not like Trump. And out of those who who not like him, do not like Hillary even more.

I understand and I agree. Even I freaked out a little bit.  (Well, okay, a lot.)

But I kinda disagree with most of you saying "See you in Canada!" Or something like, "I'm gonna move!"

That means we are giving up on our country. Even if our leader isn't great, or even good, we are the citizens of this country. We have a duty to protect it. Running away is not protecting our country or caring for it.

After all the lives lost in the wars to free our country, why aren't we fighting to free it from this threat?

(I don't think it's that serious, I'm just saying).

"I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America. And to the Repubilc, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

We pledge allegiance! Running away is not allegiance! We vote for our president. You may say, "Well, it's done now and there is nothing we can do about it and anyway, one person like me can't change it."

We can change it. We can. One CBer at a time.

There may be nothing to do about Trump but pray for him and hope for the best. Also, there is only four years before the next election. Four years? How much could happen?

Or they could just *tries out new word* Im-p-p-peach him. There, said it.

Just because Trump is president doesn't mean that we're doomed. We're all going to work together to make America a better place, despite who our President is.

Even if we don't have (or it doesn't seem like we have) a bunch of power to make the entire US better, we can still make differences in our neighborhood, and maybe share a smile or a greeting with an old man who you see, walking alone, with their dog named Dorothy every day. It makes a difference.

*Ahem*

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation under God, (<--when did that become forgotten??) indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Come one, come all, to America! We deal out justice by the pint! By the bucketful! By the heaping loadful!

Weeelllll...hm.

Really? They have a part saying one nation under God?

I feel so mad because I'm a Christian, and the homeschool group I went to...well, we didn't say that part. I never even knew that part existed!

But Trump's presidency will have real life and real unpleasant effects on a lot of us here. How about Cayke, or Bookworm, or any other Muslim CBers? What happens to them if Trump decides to actually carry through with his idea to ban all Muslims entering the U.S.?

How about those of us here who have hard-working, middle-class families who are struggling to stay afloat? How will Trump's (and frankly, Toomey's) garbage economic plan help any of that?

I could go on and on, but my point is, it's not just about the idea of this horrible, racist, clueless man becoming president. If Trump really carries through with some of the things he's suggested, his presidency will have unpleasant consequences on many of us here. Thus, a lot of people probably feel that the best choice at this point is to abandon the country. Believe me, it's not something I want to do, and I don't think it's something anybody else wants to do, but depending on how the next four years go, it may be the only option.

(Sorry if it feels like I'm over-dramatizing this whole thing; I'm just really worried about my friends and family, and that includes you guys.)

I agree that it will have bad effects, but if we run away it will only make things worse.

If we stand up to him, we can make a difference. Also, if it gets that bad, the Congress won't stand for it.

And Canada has it's own problems with xenophobia and stuff.

Yeah, Canada does have its problems. I'll stay here. Unless they have Haribo Starmix there.

Thank you, Daisy, for properly putting this out there! We need to stick together as a country, work as one. The best we can do is better prepare for the future, no matter who is running our country. #OneCBerAtaTime

Hmm... I like that. xD
