Knee Injuries.

Knee Injuries.

Have any of you ever heard of Osgood-Slaughter Disease or Patella Femoral Knee Pain Syndrome? I was at the doctor's yesterday and apparently I have both of those, and I can't do any sports that require a lot of running for at least a year, maybe two!!!!! I'm sooo sad, because that means that I can't run track (I'm missing ((maybe)) the District Championship!), play basketball, play soccer, or dance!!!! I think the reason is because I didn't take good care of my knees when I was younger, and now I have this chronic thing and I'm so sad!!!! Anyhoo, my point was to ask if anyone else has had Osgood-Slaughter Disease, Patella Femoral Knee Pain Syndrome or both.....*sob*

Awww! You guys are so nice!!! I'm kinda bummed out that I can't run, but I'm also kind of excited to try some new stuff. My life revolves around track, basketball, soccer and dance, so now I can try new stuff like swimming and plays!! When I was younger I hadn't realized how badly your knees can get damaged, and my coach never made me stretch right. By the time a got a coach that was with the picture my patellular tendon was already in really crummy shape from that, but I didn't find out until recently. What makes me really mad is the district invitationals are this weekend and my parents said that I could go, but I don't wan't to hurt my knee any worse. Plus, how hard would it be to walk into a race and know that it was your last? I kind of want to call it good, because the last race that I ran I got first place in (it was the 800 meter), even if I did collapse and have to be carried back to the bus by Kake and a few other people. But the thing is, in my division I'm the top 800 runner, plus my 4x400 m relay team is really good. I'm so confused!!! Arrgghhh!

:( What are the symptoms of that? I play soccer, and within the last two years, when I run a lot my knee starts to hurt when I put weight on it while bending it. It sometimes causes me to limp. I asked my Dr. but she didn't know anything about it....

Well, that tendon that runs from your kneecap to your shinbone will be all inflamed and swollen (this is Osgood-Slaughter disease that I'm talking about btw) and it will hurt when you touch it, when you walk on it, or when you look at it (:D). In Patella Femoral Knee Pain Syndrome the sides of your knees hurt realllllyyyy badly. And lots of people get mild knee pains, so it might not be that. In both of those it's excrutiating pain. I literally had to be carried back to the bus after the 800 m last Wednesday. Sorry, I'm not exactly a brain surgeon, but I hope that helps.

OK, I don't think I have it. I think I have whatever Kendra has.

A brain surgeon probably wouldn't know either, Koffee. It's the knees we're talking about here, not the brain.... (just kidding)

Poor you!!!!! I don't have any knee problems, but I do have Transiant Regional Ostio Peroses (if thats how you spell it) in my foot. It's confusing because one day it will feel fine, but the next day it will be throbbing with pain!!!Cry
