I need a bit of help creating charries. Not for a specific story or anything, but just in general. I feel like my charries are a bit too. . . normal. So, anyways, how DO you guys create your charries? How do you come up with names, personalities, appearances? Do you use name websites? Do you take personality quizzes for your charries? (I tried once, and trust me, it DOES NOT WORK!) What are all your secrets?? ;p

This is super helpful, Cho! I use one that my cousin emailed to me, but it's four pages long and you have to print it out.

I have to say, the character on my Lovecraft thread that you posted is great. It is an awsome charater for the setting.
If you need help writing good characters, you need to make the character to match the setting. Contrast the way they act with the setting.
Or put in a ton of self-inserts, like me.
Get names from movies and TV shows you watch. THere is a guy name Flynn in TRon, so I use that name.

How do you determine the appearance of your charries? For me, after I find a name, the appearance just pops into my head. Sometimes, I wish I was better at drawing so I could draw them!
