I'M JEWISH!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I'M JEWISH!

I'M JEWISH!

I just wanted to share that with everyone. I am Conservative, but I want to grow up to be a Reform Rabbi then own a Reform Overnight Camp. I want to be Reform only so I can be less religous.

Awesome, it's nice to meet people - even if it's just online - with various religions. I don't know much about the Jewish religion, so I don't understand what Reform Rabbi is, but good luck!

I believe three different kinds of Judaism are Othodox, Conservative, and Reformed. Then a Reform Rabbi would be the religious leader of a congregation of Reformed Jews.

And there are more denominations, too! These include Renewal, Recontructionist, Ultra-Orthadox, and 'Non-Denominational', people who practice Judaism in unique ways or by taking bits and pieces from all traditions.

I'm an Eastern Roman Catholic, and conservative.

The reason that I posted this is because it seems to me that most CBers are some type of Christian or Muslim, and I wanted to know if anyone else was Jewish. :)

I know only a little about Judaism, so I don't know what a Reform Rabbi is.

I myself am nonreligious. (I used to go to Sunday School when I was little.) That is DIFFERENT from Atheism, by the way. Atheism says "There is no God. God does not exist. Period." Nonreligious is like, "I just don't follow a religion. Eh, maybe there's a God, maybe there isn't. I don't know. But I do know that I just don't go to church or follow a religion. Still, hey, maybe there is a God. I dunno." But when something very bad happens, I do pray for it to get better.

I am perfectly tolerant of every religion; I think having diversity is wonderful. (And there's a LOT of diversity in my city and school anyway.) I really liked when we studied different religions this year in school; it was really interesting to learn about the different beliefs and cultures.

I'm Jewish too! I'm reform, so I'm not super-super stringant about following stuff (I still turn on lights on Shabbat), but I believe in God, try my best to do Tikkun Olam/Mitzvot, and celebrate most holidays and stuff. I respect all religions!

Yeah, my family isn't really religous. We use technology on Shabbat and basically use it as a weekend. We barely ever go to synagogue. We try to celebrate Shabbat on Friday nights, with the short kiddush. We keep Kosher and I pray all the time. :) :) :)

Seriously, Jack-a-nat? That's EPIC! I'm Jewish too! I'm pretty religeous (but not orthodox) and go to a Chabad shull! (Shull is another word for Synagogue). Do you keep kosher? I'm so exited: another Jew on the CB!!!!!

Secular Jew here! Like OtR, I believe in all the concepts of Judiaism. I also celebrate Jewish holidays and I am sort of learning Yiddish. I go to a secular Jewish school on Sundays during the school year. I like to eat the traditional foods. Even without being a believer, I still celebrate Chanukah, Purim, etc., eat, dance, sing, and work to make the world a better place. Simply put, I'm a Jew.

SO AM I! Well, half-Jewish.  I celebrate the holidays- my mom's not Jewish, and I don't go to temple, so some might not consider me Jewish. I've been told I'm not Jewish a lot, and that really aggravates me and just kind of makes a little crack in my sense of identity and honestly, my self-confidence. I am Jewish because Judiasm is a race and a culture as well as a religion, and even though I could list like 14 reasons why I'm 'not Jewish'-my mom's not Jewish, I've never gone to temple, I haven't been baptized, I go to CHURCH, I haven't had a bat mitzvah, I don't know Hebrew, My dad's side is at most reform, I'm not Kosher, I celebrate Christmas and other Christian holidays, my dad is basically against all religion, I don't do sabbath, I don't fast for Yom Kippur, and hey, my sense of self is kind of going down the drain, so I'm gonna stop now. Sorry, Jack. I guess I needed somewhere to rant. I might ask the admins to delete this post later. Also, if you or anyone else here believes that I'm not Jewish, that's absolutely fine, and feel free to voice your opinion. I just needed somewhere to dump all this frustrating junk and run away. I'm so sorry that you had to host this mess. If you would like the admins to delete this post just ask. You're such a great person and you don't deserve this stuff.
