Yeah, I'm sort of excited!! :):) I chose this really pretty version of "It is Well" mixed with "Moonlight Sonata", or whatever it's called. :)

I'm happy she got to go home!

Aww, Paige, I feel soo sorry for you and your friend! (;_;) My great-aunt has cancer, too, and as far as I know, they don't think she can be cured. (;_;) Soo, my grandparents visit her very often. And I hope that I can see her at least one more time before she dies, so I can play "The Yellow Rose of Texas" for her on my clarinet. (Yeah, she lives in Texas and always has and will. She's my grandma's little sister.) I started playing the clarinet on her old clarinet that she played in her high school band, so whenever I play the clarinet I think of her. I did get a new clarinet, but I still have hers as a spare for when mine is in repairs and as a family heirloom sort of thing. Anyway. I will miss her when she is gone, but I long ago accepted the fact that she will be leaving this world sometime soon. (;_;)<- If you haven't guessed by now, it's a crying smiley. And, my cousin's grandfather died of cancer too. (;_;) So, I know about what cancer can do.
Jenni, maybe you can send your great-aunt a CD or tape of you playing "The Yellow Rose of Texas." You could add other music, too. I bet she'd love it!

Yeah, my dad puts things on YouTube and sometimes I video myself playing the clarinet and get him to put it on so I can send a link to her. For Christmas last year, I played "Waltz of the Flowers" from The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky in front of our Christmas tree and at the end of the video it fades away to me saying "Merry Christmas, everybody!" and we sent it to a lot of people, including her. Oh, I know! I'll ask my grandma when her birthday is, and I can do it for her (my great-aunt's) birthday!

Aww. . .I'm SO sorry!
my BFFL's mom died in 4th grade (cancer), so I know about this struggle. Her dad is 80+ (she's adopted), her sister is never home, sleeps at her friend's house like every day. My poor friend has to go through fun stuff like puberty all alone, and eats dinner by herself, etc. She just misses her mom, and 2 years later her family is still hurting. . .
Once again, I'm so sorry.
((Also, am I the only person who is seeing the site all messed up? There are these squiggly lines all over everything, and n the pics aren't showing up, etc. . . ))
We haven't had any other reports of squiggly lines, Poetonearth. I hope you are a very thoughtful, caring friend to your BGGL. It sounds like she can use your support.

I haven't seen squiggly lines. And, Old Cricket, don't you mean BFFL? It sorta came out BGGL. ;)
A friend of ours has cancer. She is starting chemotherapy on Friday (tomorrow) so if you could be thinking of her too, that would be appreciated. I'm really sorry about your friends' mom, poetonearth, but it sounds like she has a GREAT friend. :) And I'm sorry about your great-aunt, Jenni. I hope she gets better. :)

Oh, I'm sorry for your friend!!! I'll pray for her!!! May I ask, though, is she an adult or a kid?? This is getting really depressing!!!!!
(April 30, 2009 - 5:08 pm)
An adult.
(April 30, 2009 - 5:37 pm)
My friend? She's my age. . .so, 12. (actually, in 6 days.)

Thanks, everybody, for your kind words! Lena, I hope she gets better, too, but as I said before, it's almost certain that she won't recover. All my grandparents can do is visit her as often as they can until she leaves us.

Oh, that's SO sad!!!!!!! Like you said, that time period is about the worst time to lose your mom!!! I can't even imagine!!!!!! Oh, I'm glad she still has you, though!

Paige, I feel for you and her family. My grandfather died of cancer when I was in third grade, and it hurt. A lot. Now, though, I've moved on and remember the good things, and yes, some of the bad things too (bittersweet), but that makes the good ones even better. Your friend's mom is with the Lord now, and I'm thinking of you and her family.

Thanks, Allison. I'm so sorry about your grandfather!!! All of my grandparents (except my grandma) died before I was born, and no other relative has passed away, so I don't really know what it's like to have a family member die. I wish I knew what to say, except I'm sorry for you!
