Help!
I'm fat.
It's that simple.
According to the Internet, I'm twenty pounds above the average weight for girls my age!
What do I do?

Are you taller than average? I am super tall for my age, and I weigh a little more. I don't feel fat. And plus, a person who is 100% average is creepy.

No, I'm not taller than average.

Listen.
You. Are. Not. Fat. You're completely fine! I can't see an actual picture of you, but if you've only just now realized that you're 20 pounds over the 'average weight', from reading something off the internet, then chances are, you're not. If you eat well and live a healthy, normal life, you are perfectly okay. The requirement that society has imposed, that there's something wrong with you if you can pinch the least bit of fat off yourself, and that you then need to undertake drastic measures, is, frankly, a load of codswallop. My advice in any case-- drink a lot of water to help with water retention, don't starve yourself because that makes it worse for scientifically provable reasons, and do simple exercises like jumping jacks (yes jumping jacks) when you wake up in the morning. If you are really worried, just cut off a bit on your sugar intake and eat a healthy amount of meat, vegetables, and dairy.
Some girls are naturally thin. Some of us are naturally curvy. There's an enormous difference between curvy and obese. The way to get overweight is to abuse food, sugar in particular. If you eat normally, three square meals a day, you're normal. Don't listen to the internet and media and all the jerks who don't care about you and are very interested in making money. Talk to your mother about it. You are a beautiful person. Don't you let anyone tell you otherwise.

Have you talked to your parents about this? Ask a doctor, too. I am apparently tall for my age but average in weight... That makes me like super skinny. For a while I had convinced myself that I was FAT, though! I went on an unhealthy crash diet, and dropped 5 lbs off my already slim figure. Now, though, I am back at normal weight, but it is scary, now, to see how disillusioned I was. Remember to consider your body shape/type; you know your body MUCH better than a computer does. A computer averages thousands of different body types for 1 person; it isn't very accurate. Don't feel bad about yourself. Like I said, please talk to your parents. If you are uncomfortable doing that, maybe get in a little bit more exercise and cut out some sodas and candies. Don't limit the amount of food you take at a meal; especially vegetables. Your body, when you feel hungry, is telling you i need more healthy energetic food! Don't ignore that. I suggest, with many health experts, to snack in between meals. Just make sure it's healthy, and remember, you are beautiful "just the way you are".

Eh, don't worry about it. I don't think twenty pounds over average is that bad. Of course I'm not an expert. Just eat the right foods and be yourself.

Just listen, "overweight" is just a stupid stereotype (sorry, but it is). Seriously. Especially if it is just a few pounds? I mean, don't let it get to you. Plus, Gared also proves a point. If you are even an inch taller than average, it dramatically changes that. Now, I am not saying don't care at all. But I hate hearing the term overweight or fat because it means nothing. And, as Gared also says, being "average" is just creepy. Reminds me of.. *coughcough*mindless-robots*cough*.
Sorry, I can't give much advice. I mean, if you checked your weight compared to age and height and it still shows it's over, I mean, the best I can say is maybe talk to your parents. They could help. But if you are just going off of the "average weight per age", that isn't all too accurate.

l'm terribly sorry, but your post kind made me laugh. See, l weigh almost fifty pounds more then supposedly is "normal" for girls my age. (And am very tall to boot.)
People are built very differently, but it doesn't make them overweigh. You are (l'm assuming you are because of the avredge age of people here. If you aren't, terribly sorry.) a growing child, and everyone grows up differently. Trying to loose weigh when you're growing isn't healthy or good for you, unless you are at a unheathly weigh.
Talk to your parents/doctor about it if you belive it's really a problem. Otherwise, don't listen to the Internet.

Oh girl. I know how you feel. YOU ARE NOT FAT. People are built differently, and "average weight" is ridiculous. I have friends who eat as much as me, exercise as much as me, and are much skinnier than me. Talk to your mom about it, and if she doesn't think anything's wrong, than you're probably fine. *Hugs*
