Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Journals!Who

Journals!

Who else keeps a journal? I just recently started one. I have this really great notebook that I covered with stickers (has anyone heard of the brand Leuchtturm1917? It's the one I'm using), and I write in it every day.

It's a great place to write down poetry, story ideas, dreams that I've had, my feelings, stuff that's happened to me that day, and lots of random stuff. I also like to make sketches and doodle. And then, when I look back on it in a few years, there might be something that would give me inspiration for a story, make me think, hey, I wasn't too bad of a poet then! Or remember funny things that I did. I love it!

When I was siz or seven, I tried multiple times to keep a "diary". I either bought a small notebook or stapled some pages together, it all depended on what I wanted to do. I wrote down things like,

"Dear Diary,

Today I went to the grocery store with Mom. Then we went home. Then I had PB&J for lunch. Mom had a burrito. Ithink the burrito is spicy, so I don't like it. Tommorrow Mom, Dad, and all my siblings, and me are going to go to the playground.

Bye, Diary!

That's what I wrote. I wrote down boring things just like that. But I got bored of it after a few days, every time I tried doing a diary. Now a sample from my actual journal:

July 12, 2016.

I am suffering from a short period of writer's block. Ugh. I don't have any inspiration, or anything. This is BAD. A poem about writer's block:

Writer's Block

Stuck

Trapped

You can't

Go onwards

Nothing can help

You desperately

Grab a piece of

Paper

Scrawl some words across the

Top

Then

Cross them

Out

Your mind is blank

Stuck in a

Deep

Snowdrift

Unmoving

Can't breath

And then the

Snow

Melts away

You startscribblingasfast

As you can

Goodbye, writer's block

Hello, inspiration.

Hm. Interesting. It's amazing what words can do. Just think- before J. K. Rowling came along, no one ever thought to dress up as a black-haired, black-robed boy wearing glasses when Halloween came along, did they? Nope. They didn't.

The rest of that day's pages were photos that I pasted in and pictures that I drew.

So does anyone else keep a journal?

And Hazel says epik. You really need to learn how to spell epic, Hazel. I thought you went to boarding school! Anyway, what's epic? My poem? Why, thank you! *No, it's epic that now I know which notebok your journal is, so I can read it! Mwa ha ha!*
Oh my gullible gorrillas! Yikes!

I have tried, many times, to keep a journal, but it just doesn't work for me. I empty my feelings, but then I read it again and it just sounds so stupid that I shred the page. I am my own best confidant, but I dearly wish I could manage to keep a journal. I'm glad it works for you!

I keep 2 journals! One is for poems and stories, and one is for actual diary keeping. I try to write at least once a week.

Hm. Interesting! Mine is kind of a mix of both.

@Cayke, yeah. My mom continually reminds me not to write negative things in my journal, because she says that if I do, when I read it later I'm going to feel really embarrassed. I don't anyway, but she keeps reminding me...

I can't make a journal. But I write on Google Docs, so I can go back and review my stuff whenever. Wait, I have a book of writing prompts. Bettter do those.

I keep a journal! It's this wide, pink notebook with a checkered cover, and I don't try to write traditional diary entries. it's more of a place where I stuff doodles, plans, sketches, poems, or whatever whim enters my head.

I write in a journal sometimes just to vent or write stuff out. Currently I actually I have a google docs page that I'm keeping notes on- things to buy, or do, inspirational quotes, and bucket list goals, the like. One of them is actually to get a journal... XD

I have a ton of half-used notebooks leftover from school, so I write a lot in those. Does anyone else obsess over buying notebooks/journals/sketchbooks/planners? I could honestly spend all day shopping for them. I don't usually buy them, but looking at a whole section of them just makes me happy. Okay, I sound like a freak now. Bye.

I've tried many, many times to keep a journal, but it never works. I'll keep on trying, though! I hope it will work... someday...

I love journals. I'll get attached to one journal, and write everything down in it until I use it up. So far, I've been working on the same leather journal for about six or seven years. Now I'm almost out of pages, and I'm in the market for a new leather journal. I got a hard journal for my birthday this year, and I wrote a whole movie in there. I want another journal to write my dreams in, so I can remember all my epic dreams.

I kept one from...*digs beat-up journal from box in cabinet* October 2011-May 2012. Didn't wrote every day, but....wow, I wrote some pretty long entries! Some of them are over three pages! And I filled up the whole journal! Well, some pages only had two or three large words when I was feeling passionate about something...a few drawings, but not really many. Wow, I actually wrote a lot!

Micna says my journal is ffny. Maybe what she thinks is funny is the drawing of this really mean girl as a tomato.

I have a journal that's not really a record of things that hapened, but a bunch of lists, fanart, fanfic, and just random thoughts. I fill up a lot.

I've tried to keep diaries or journals, but it just doesn't work that way for me. Everything I know stays in my head. I happen to have a very good memory for great or terrible things that happened years back. Although sometimes I forget a lot. It really depends. Anyways, I tried before, but I can't get words to flow freely. It is as if my mind goes to lockdown if it knows I am trying to release it's memories. But I do keep a poetry journal since the 7th this month. Every few days I'll write poetry in there. Sometimes only one. Yesterday I had four. But I can't do an actual diary. I give you credit for being able to do so!
