Chatterbox: Down to Earth
SCHOOL!!!!&n
SCHOOL!!!!
~So all ye Rose buds out there are dreading it, and all ye Cloudy Dwellers out there are kissing ye iPads, and I have no idea what Wildflower is doing. Summer assignments are already coming in. My freedom is over!
I will be fourteen in August, so I will be going into 8th grade! I like school fairly well, but I'm awful with deadlines and resisting the urge to read during the winter. What? Am I supposed to go 3/4 of the year without reading anything other than school books, which are good (I'm reading The Iliad and The Odysee, The Bronze Bow, The Cat of Bubastees, something about a golden goblet, and some more), but not enough. You should have seen me over New Year's and Christmas break! I was reading like crazy. I reread the whole Secret Zoo series and A Stranger at Green Knowe as well as a bunch of other books. My beanbag had a permenant dent in it for a while. In between school subjects, I also reread The Prisoner of Azkaban, The Toothpaste Millionaire, and a trillion other books from my bookshelves, because I couldn't go to the library as often.
So summer is my reading time, and school takes a lot of that privilegde away. However, I'm looking forward to my science class (I've never done Earth Science before! So excited!), my advanced drama class (YES! We're doing Peter Pan this year), play rehearsals for The Music Man that will keep me up late and force me to catch up on Literature homework backstage, as well as wear out my rarely used jazz shoes. I also am not taking Logic this year, so WHOOHOO! No more pretending to understand the concept while Cloudy and I exchange notes about murdering popsicles.
So what's new with you all? Any other 8th graders out there? Are you excited or nervous about your last year of Middle School? How about 9nth graders? Can you give me some tips...? I'm nervous about being in a homeschool-type class with my younger brother (it's for 8th and advanced 7th graders).

Sorry, I can't make this long, we are about to leave for camping. But I just finished 9th grade, and while it is difficult, it is worth it. My one tip for now is create a schedule and stick to it. Also, don't give up. Reach past what others are doing, and be yourself. Good luck! I'll write more on the 17th probably.

On August 1st, I am going into high school. Gulp. Ninth grade. I need tips, too! I am homeschooled.

Hi! I'm going into 7th grade and it'll be my first year at junior high! I'm pretty excited to meet tons of new people, get lockers, switch classes with different people in each class, SELECT chorus not just whoever wants to gets in, and best of all.... ADVANCED CLASSES! Yay! :)

Since I moved, I'll have to start over at a whole new school. It's not so big a deal, since I don't really make friends, but still. I know nothing about it except its name. Oh well.

I moved a lot of schools, and the biggest tip I have is be yourself. I have tried changing myself to make friends, and it doesn't work. Wait, and it will all work out.

Oh no, I'm not worried. I don't need any people in my life to make me content. I have my noteboook for that. :) If you think I want to "fit in," then you have never been so wrong. There's a chance that I won't even find anyone I connect with. My family is a pack. We don't need anyone but each other.

NOOOOOO!!! FREEDOM'S GONE!!!!! *hugs Rosebud* I'm going into 8th as well, but I'm in Maine right now, so I don't have to worry about school (yet). I'm also really nervous about going into 8th, but I'm even MORE nervous about possibly homeschooling through high school. Elmosdaisy, how are you going to do it? We were thinking maybe we'll do Cornerstone, which is like two days of school a week. But I really have no idea. I wish you luck, though, Rosebud! Tell said younger bro that I said hi! *climbs on Saphira* *rides away into sunset*

Have a great time in Maine! And the brother is Big J, of course :)

i have no idea how high school will turn out, but I view it as a big adventure! If you ever need tips or help or support, just ask me or any other CBer. We'd all be happy to help, I'm sure. You have my best wishes for 8th grade!

You people are already starting? Oh wow. l have 1 1/2 months of sweet, sweet freedom left.
l'm homeschooled and going into 7th grade, which silghtly irritates me because l'm 1-2 years older then most people in my grade. My school isn't diffcult, but l hate the system that we use.
l do sports with the school, and for the first time, choir. l'm not realllly sure about choir, l'm not very good, musically.
