Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I just watched

I just watched the movie Little Shop of Horrors, and I loved it! Has anybody here seen it? If you haven't, it's great. (But it's an old movie, so it has a few bad words in it. You just have to ignore them.) It's about a guy named Seymour, played by Rick Moranis, who finds a rare and strange plant that he calls Audrey II. It turns out that Audrey II is not all that she seemed, and it's up to Seymour to save the world from carnivorous plants!

The songs are amazing, too. And Audrey II is a puppet--but she is so so so realistic that it's hard to believe someone could've built her so perfectly!

I have never watched or heard of it before, but it sounds really cool Mice! I'll have to add it to my endless list of movies I want to watch. So many movies...

/Little Shop, Little Shop of Horrors!/

I love that musical. My mom performed as a singer in college.

First of all, top!

I have not seen Little Shop, but recently my class was allowed to pick research essay topics (there were a lot of boy bands and pop singers, as well as musical theatre, Batman, and fashion through the ages, to name a few) and I picked Alan Menken (yup, I'm that cool person who picks a musical composer for her research project :-D ). In my research, I learned about Little Shop of Horrors, among other things (did you know that many of the men in his family were dentists? Everyone thought he was going to be just another dentist). I listened to some of the music (mainly Suddenly Seymour- I kind of love Adam Jacobs's version) and liked it. So now whenever plants come up, I bring up Audrey II.

That was a very roundabout story involving lots of parentheses but I think you get the point. I should really watch the movie...

Fflewddur says edru. Aww, I was hoping I could somehow connect it to a Little Shop song. No luck. No connection that I can see. Oh well. Just remember: don't feed the plants!

My dad used to work backstage in theater produtions. He did scenery and props and things like that, and he told me that he and some people he worked with made a Little Shop of Horrors puppet.

In the play, they all get eaten, is what my mom told me. I learned that in the movie (I'm talking about the newest one--it turns out there are a lot of versions! The old movie, the play, the newest movie) they actually went with the play's orignal ending at first, but at the screening they just didn't like it. They had to refilm the entire ending to be happier!

(PS--I'll be a dentist!)

I saw a play of that at a high school on a field trip. It was amazing! The actors' voices were stunning. Absolutely stunning! Audrey II was actually voiced by a guy, which was kind of funny. But I was raving about their ranges and tone quality (especially for high schoolers) for a while. I must've driven my friends mad. But the play was fantastic, the plot more than a little creepy, and the roles well-played. And also, one of my classmates' sister played a minor role in the play, which was cool because she volunteered in my fifth grade class.

I thought Audrey II was a guy, until the final song when she said she was a mother. And then I thought it was funny.
