Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Song Quote Game!
I am bringing this back from the depths of the Chatterbox! I remember a thread like this, but it disappeared and was never seen again . . .
Anyhow, I have no idea who created this, but yay for them!
The rules are simple:
Someone posts a song lyric, and someone else will post the song’s title (not artist)
Also, if you feel like a name in the song will give it away, you can put dashes for the number of letters.
- No Googling lyrics
- Wait for the last person’s post to show up before you post
- No explicit lyrics or song titles
- Have fun!
I’ll post the first one, it should be pretty easy for some of you CBers. . .
“ If you won’t stand for nothing, ---- , what’ll you fall for?”

@The Riddler,
I'm pretty sure that's the end of the song. . .
(June 14, 2016 - 6:14 pm)
Yes, it is, but it's supposed to turn into "my shot" like it's one song.

"My Shot" from Hamilton!
---------
I am not throwing away my shot,
I am not throwin away my shot,
Hey, yo, I'm just like my country, I'm young scrappy and hungry,
And I am not throwing away my shot.
I'm'a get a scholarship to King's College!
I probably shouldn't brag, but dag, I amaze and astonish,
The problem is I got a lotta brains but no polish,
I got a holler just to be heard, with every word I drop knowledge.
I'm a diamond in the rough, a shiny piece of coal,
Tryin' to reach my goal,
My power of speech: Unimpeachable!
Only nineteen, but my mind is older,
These New York City gettin' colder, I shoulder
Ev'ry burden ev'ry disadvantage I've learned to manage,
I don't have a gun to brandish,
I walk these streets famished!
----
And I'll stop now before I get too carryed away.
So, next lyrics:
"Sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true,
In extraordinary ways,
Suddenly a day can be so amazing..."
(June 14, 2016 - 6:27 pm)
Well I don't know the second song, so I'll continue my shot...
The plan is to fan this spark into a flame
But dang it's getting dark so let me spell out my name
I am the A-L-E-X-A-N-D-E-R we are meant to be
A colony that runs independently
Meanwhile Britian keeps spittin' on us endlessly
Essentially, they tax us relentlessly
Then King George turns around runs a spendin' spree
He ain't never gonna set his descendants free
So there will be a revolution in the century
Enter me! ("He says in parenthesis")
Don't be shocked when your history book mentions me
I will lay down my life if it sets us free
Eventually you'll see my ascendency!
... And onwards to the chorus
Lyrics from Hamilton
(June 15, 2016 - 5:21 pm)
I am not throwin away my hot
I am not throwin away my shot
yo I'm just like my country
I'm young, scrappy, and hungry and
I'm not throwin away my shot

Lafayette:
I dream of life without the monarchy,
The unrest in France will lead to 'onarchy.'
'Onarchy', how you say, how you say, 'anarchy?'
When I fight I make the other side panicky
With my shot!
Hercules Mulligan:
Yo, I'm a tailor's apprentice,
And I got y'all knuckleheads in loco parentis,
I'm joinin the rebellion 'cause I know it's my chance
To socially advance insteaad of sewin' some pants,
It's time to take a shot!
John Laurens:
And, yo, we'll never be truly free,
Until those in bondage have the same rights as you and me,
You and I, do or die, wait till I sally in
On a stallion with the first black battallion,
Have another shot!
(Someone continue with Burr!)
(June 16, 2016 - 2:54 pm)
Know this song by heart!
Burr:
Geniuses, lower your voices
You keep out of trouble and you double your choices
I'm with you, but the situation is fraught
You got to be carefully taught if you talk you're gonna get
Shot!
Hamilton:
Burr, check what we got
Mr. Lafayette hard rock like Lancelot
Laurens I like you a lot
Let's hatch a plot blacker than the kettle callin the pot
What are the odds the gods would put us all in one spot
Poppin a squad 'o conventional wisdom like it or not...
(June 17, 2016 - 5:37 pm)
A bunch of revolutionary manumission abolitionists?
Give me a position, show me where the ammunition is
Oh, am I talkin’ too loud?
Sometimes I get over excited, shoot off at the mouth
I never had a group of friends before
I promise that I’ll make y’all proud
Let’s get this guy in front of a crowd
. . .
