Chatterbox: Down to Earth

PETSI wasn't sure

PETS
I wasn't sure where to put this post, but oh well...  What type of pets does everybuggy have?  Any interesting ones?  I have a grumpy old cat named Cat, who hates to be touched, two adorable parakeets named Buddy and B.B., and I used to have two gerbils named Sprite and Pepsi.  (Pepsi was mine and Sprite was my brother's)  Oh, my piano teacher sort of lent me her beautiful canary named Mozart.  My parakeets like him.

I have a black cat named Huckleberry, who is a complete wuss. He would fall on his side, and things like that. And my sister used to have a hamster named Tucker but he died of old age. Actually, he lived about three years. I don't know if that is the normal life span because my friend's hamsters died young, of sickness in one case and another, a fall down the stairs the night of an escape.

That's really long for a rodent.  My brother's gerbil Sprite lived to be 2 1/2 and Pepsi lived to be 3 1/2.  Sprite died of a tumor.  They say it was because his ancestors were used in labs.  It's sort of sad.

YAY! Someone finally made a thread about pets!!!:) I was going to, but like Paige, I wasn't sure where to put it.:) I have A LOT of pets at my house, so get ready for a long line of animals. We have 15 koi fish, (they're not all named yet), 3 horses, 9 chickens, 4 dogs, 4 cats and 2 goats.:) All of the horses are boys and they belong to my mom, my sister and me. My mom's horse is a mustang\quarter horse, and is named Buddy. My horse and my sister's are both Arabians. My sister's is named Yukon, and mine is named Shasta. Only 4 of our chickens are named so far. They're all girls. The 4 chickens that we've named are Abby, Betty, Chica, and Blue Bell. Each of the 9 chickens gives us one large, brown egg a day.:) The 2 goats, (a boy and a girl), are named Clarabell and Apallo. The 4 cats are Scooter, Suki, Nessa, and Fender. Scooter is the Mama kitten, and the other three are her babies. Fender is my brother's. He's named after the Fender guitar and is the only boy cat in the house. Nessa is my sister's. As you might have guessed, she is named after the witch in Wicked. My kitten is named Suki, and she has an ink-black nose and a high-pitched meow.:) Last but not least are the 4 dogs. There's our red border collie, named Scout, our Yorkie mix named Princess, and my sister's girl Chihuahua named Mini. I own the only boy dog in the house, and he's my little baby boy. He's a brindle Chihuahua named Rocky, (his full name is Prince Rocky!:)), and I saved up for more then a year to get him.  He's SO cute!!!!!:) As you can probably tell, my family just LOVES animals!:)

Wow...

You have a ton of animals!!!!!!

My neighbors have 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 pigs, 2 goats, 2 gerbils, 2 ducks, 12 fish, and, ummm, I think that's it, unless they've gotten more since the last time I checked.  Now for a farm, that may be normal, but I live in a neighbor hood, where we each get about a quarter of an acre of land to put our houses on.  Could you imagine having that many pets here?  Of course, the dogs do escape alot...

WOW!!! I can't even try and imagine that that many pets not on a farm! It must sound like a zoo at that house!!!!:):):)

It sounds like a zoo in our neighborhood! Since I'm homeschooled, I'm home all the time, so I get to hear the zoo! The goats bleat, the pigs grunt, the dogs bark, the ducks quack, ect.

If it doesn't have to be at that exact house, I would have to say my neighbor's tuxedo cat, Bob.  They moved, but they had Bob for a couple years here.  Every day, he would come over to my house and play with me.  I would take a piece of string and he would chase.  My friends and I would play with him for hours.  In the winter, we would find an ice cube from my swing set, and he would lick it.  He sometimes slid down the slide.  In fall, we would sort of play a cat version of hide-and-seek in the piles of leaves.  My cat got jealous and started to fight Bob.  Bob was younger, so he always won, which made my cat even madder.  Later, Bob and his owners moved up into a more northern part of Maine that's sort of in the middle of the woods.  On the last day we went over to his house and said good-bye.  His owner was trying to decide if she should give him to me or not.  Eventually she decided not to, and said that everyone asked her if they could have him.  A half a year later, we saw her at the mall.  We chatted for a while, then we asked how Bob was.  She said that . . .

Bob got eaten by a coyote...    :(

Okay, I didn't say anything yesterday, because I was playing with what must have been Bob's kitten.  I know it wasn't, but...  my dad called me outside, and there was this kitten/cat who looked just like Bob!  She sat on my porch all day (we think she might have been sick) and she let me pet her.  She'd follow me everywhere!  My dad and I started naming names, to see which one she'd respond to.  The only one she did was Alice (sorry to the Alice who's on the site! Ha!), but now we think she was deaf.  We went around the neighborhood (she followed us!) and asked every person if they knew who owned her.  No one did, but they did know that the cat had been coming to their houses every day and eating their cats' food.  Alice spent the night at our porch.  That made my nasty cat really mad.  He got in fights with her.  We knew we couldn't keep her, because of him.  So, sigh, my mom and I just got back from dropping Alice off at the animal refuge league.  They didn't even let us say good-bye!  They just grabbed the cage as soon as we put it down. :(  I've been crying a lot.  Who'd think you could get so attached to a cat in 24 hours? :(  I don't see why she had to look so much like Bob. :(

Oh!:( That's really sad!!!!:( It's really weird that she looked so much like Bob, and it's really sad that you couldn't keep her.:( Since it's such a sad story, I'll try and cheer you up. I'll try and see the good things in what happened-or try to.:) First, if she was deaf she would have been hard to watch out for, and she wouldn't have been able to hear when an animal was sneaking up on her, or when a car was coming. She could have been hurt or killed just crossing the street! Second, maybe she did have a home, and her owners will go and pick her up at the shelter. Third, maybe there's someone else out there who needed her. Maybe there was someone else who loved a cat as much as you do, and missed him even more and needed that little Bob to be with him/her.:) I couldn't think of many happy things, but at least I thought of some!:):):)
