Injuries I Have
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Injuries I Have
Injuries I Have Gained During the Past 48 Hours:
1) On Thursday, at recess, I was playing basketball. Knockout, to be specific. I aimed my ball, shot, and it bounced of the backboard. I ran backwards so that I would be able to catch it. I stuck my hands out to catch it and BANG! Sharp, lingering pain in my right ring finger. I went to the nurse to get ice. I went over to some of my friends who were talking on the field and showed them my finger. One of my friends, let's call her Olivia, pointed at my finger and said, "Uh, Rainbow? I think you should go back to the office..." I looked down and my finger was swelling madly. So I went back to the office, and the nurse wasn't there, but the school receptionist gave me a splint.
I got my finger x-rayed yesterday, and according to the doctor I have a tiny compression fracture. I also can barely bend my finger. It's not that hard to type, because I luckily picked the most useless finger to fracture! I can write, but messily. The real downside is that I had to go to my audition like this...and miss out on a few opportunities.
2) Yesterday, we had some guests over for dinner.
Now, picture this: There is a basketball hoop, and perpendicular to the hoop there is a compost enclosure. It is made of wood. I am standing next to the enclosure when suddenly a basketball hits my head and BANG! My head is forced onto the sharp edge of the enclosure. After the bleeding stopped and I took the icepack off my head, the cut was across my eyebrow. I might have a scar there forever.
Hopefully, it will heal.

Oooo
You will not believe how clumsy I am.
At age 4, I was running through the house, slammed by head against the edge of a wooden cabinet. No scar on my head, but a have a short, weird line on the back of my right hand from it.
At six I rubbed dirt in my eye when trying to plant flowers (even though my mom made me wear sunglasses).
At 8 (or was it 6) I scratched my cornea (same eye) while going to the bathroom.
At 11, I accidentally stabbed my left hand with a pencil.
You could also count all the times I've tumped glasses over . . .
I sense a pattern here . . .

Oh no! Hope you get better, Rainbow!
Sloth says dzzy. I don't think she's dizzy. At least, I hope not.

I use the art attacher way too much.
Admin, who uses the art attacher the most?
Oh, I don't know. It's been so busy, I don't keep track of who's posting what. You'd need to go browsing thru all the threads to make a tally. I did delete what you sent here because the name of a company (and likely a website) was showing.

Aw no! I'm sorry, Rainbow!
I will tell you I feel down some stairs last weekend, though.
I have a loft bed, and to get up on it I have to climb up some steps and then kind of climb up the wooden frame of the bed, and to get down I need to use the frame kind of like a ladder and get my other foot on the top step. So I was doing that, and I MISSED (for the first time), and I pretty much free-fell from my bed. So I've got a nice bruise on my left arm because of the stairs, and I was hurt in a few other places but now it's mostly my left pinkie toe and my arm. It wasn't too far to fall, though, thankfully.

I've had some close misses with falling off of my bunk too. It can be scary.

I don't think a single day goes by where I don't drop or spill something on myself that causes minor harm or inconvenience. In nerd terms, dexterity is my dump stat. But I honestly can't recall really hurting myself since I was, like, 8, when I skinned like half my leg while riding a bike, which I don't do anymore anyway because we moved into a neighborhood that's basically hills upon hills upon more hills. What was the point of this paragraph again?
@Mei: You, definitely. But I don't really mind.

I think she's trying to prove she is. XD
Sorry if this offends, Mei.

Lol, no, I wasn't.
But now I am!

Injury update: A few minutes ago, I was playing a game on my back patio where I made a giant square divided into sixteen squares. In each square was a number from 1-16b placed randomly. The goal is to jump in order from one to sixteen. You start with just jumping out of the box from 16, then fifteen to sixteen and out, and so on. Anyway, I was on the last round, and I was trying to impress my sister by doing it really quickly. One of the jumps required me to jump backwards a few squares. I had done it gracefully and springily every other time. Alas, I flung backwards and fell onto a rough concrete curb (not on the street--it surrounds the garden) and scraped my right arm and a little bit of my back.
I am very unfortunate this week.

Oh, I hope you feel better, OtR! For my injuries- I do a ton of clumsy things every day. The only time I got seriously hurt was when I got bit by a dog. I was six years old and was riding my bike, and I took a break and my neighbor's dog that they were taking care of bit my leg. I really don't remember it that much, but I had to go to the ER and get stitches. And I still have a big scar on the front and back of my leg because the dog kind of took a chunk out of my skin and it didn't close properly.
That's all! (:

Ooooo...I felt that. I at a pool party with some of the folks in my youth group. Virtually every guy in the youth had gotten into an in-pool wrestling match over a ball. As I jumped into the fray, one of the guys accidentally slammed my forehead and gave me a cut that would not stop bleeding no matter how much I washed and pressed it. (eventually did stop) Pretty embarrassing feeling blood trickling down your head in a pool having a bunch of friends pointing at your face teling me to not swim underwater. Really helpful guys. So I sympathize!
ayvy-feeling wavy capptcha?

Around the time I was 3-6, I got multiple serious injuries/had a few teeth problems/had a bigcut.
In order-ish:
1. Two of my siblings ganged up on me and pushed my head into a corner of a wall. I got stitches, but I don't remember where and there is no scar.
2. One of my siblings hit me with a wooden drumstick in between my nose and my mouth, because that sibling was mad at me. I got stitches, but there is no scar.
?. I was really litte, and I didn't know how to pick out my clothes. I needed to ask my mom to help, but she was in my basement. So, I grabbed a bunch of dresses and walked down there. I tripped over the dresses, and fell down more than half of the staircase. I broke my right collarbone, but it has healed perfectly.
Also, I have gotton five baby teeth pulled out, though four of them were going to be wiggly soon or already were wiggly. Before those four, I got a molar pulled out. The gave me a spacer so my teeth wouldn't grow into the area. I couldn't eat saltwater taffy/airheads/laffy taffy at that time. Last year, my dentist said that the tooth where the spacer was would grow in soon, so the spacer was taken out, but the tooth hasn't grown in yet. On that note, when I got the spacer, I also got a crown on a different baby molar. The tooth fell out a few years ago, and when it was really wiggly I was scared that 1. It would be stuck because the crown might be attached to my gums (which was not true) and 2. It had a crown, so it wasn't supposed to fall out until the crown was taken off (which was also not true).
Another thing that happened to me when I was little was; I got a long cut up my leg. Luckily, it healed quickly and left no scars.

Poor OtR! My advice: Stay away from basketballs! They seem to get you hurt a lot...
Anyway, I don't get injured very often (knock on wood) but a few months ago I dislocated my toe! It still hasn't healed! I was running across the floor at gymnastics (the big blue floor you use to tumble, not the actuall cement floor) and my big toe slipped between the side of the floor and a crash mat. I heard this big POP and my toe started hurting. I thought I just stubbed it, so I kept running. Then I was looking down at my foot and I realized that my toe was bright red and twice as big as it should have been. And it hurt quite a bit. So I showed one of my coaches and he said, "Don't worry, its just a toe. You'll be ok." Then my other coach saw it and made me scrunch my toes up and pop it back into place. And that is my lovely story. Good day.
