Softball/baseball
So, does anyone here play softball or baseball? I play softball, and it's really fun. At first I wanted to play baseball because I thought that softball was really offensive to girls. To me it was pretty much just saying, here, you're a girl, and you aren't as good at sports as the boys, so you get to use a bigger ball to make it easier for you. Softballs are actually a lot harder to throw than baseballs. Now it doesn't really bother me as much anymore.
Anyway, here's what I really wanted to tell you guys because I think it's pretty cool. On Thursday I had a home game against the other team in my town. Our coach promised us that every time we won a home game we would get to go out for ice cream, so obviously, we wanted to win. We were losing for the entire game, and by and at the start of the last inning, we were down 14-6. Well, apparently we really wanted to win, and we really wanted ice cream, because in the last inning we got 9 runs, won the game, and went out for ice cream. 9 runs! In one inning! In the final inning when we had lost all hope. 9 runs!
Thanks for reading, I just thought that was kinda cool. And remember my original question: Does anyone here play softball or baseball?

YESSSSS! Finally, someone else who plays softball. I am with you about feeling offended at first. Softballs are harder than baseballs, and not as easy to throw. What position do you play? I'm a catcher, but I tried pitching last year and it did not go well.
Do you watch baseball, by any chance? Or have a favorite team? Mine is the White Sox, and even though they were horrible last year, I think they might make it to the playoffs.
Good luck! I hope you have more 9-run innings this season, because that's awesome.

We switch off with positions in the field, but I ususally end up in the outfield and don't get to do anything. I'm a pretty good hitter, and an okay fielder. I love watching baseball! My favorite team is the Red Sox because I live in MA.

That's awesome! And I played when I was seven. For one season. Then I just went back to dance. Now I'm doing Gymnastics.

That's so cool, Dragonrider! You've got a great team.
I play baseball. I don't play softball because a) that would make it EVEN HARDER for the family and b) I find it stereotypical. Yes, softballs are a lot harder to throw (I've thrown a few, you know, people randomly playing catch in the park and me coming across one thrown astray), but I find it really, really annoying. Like, when someone asks a girl what sport she plays, the first thing they suggest is either tennis or softball. And when I tell people that I play baseball, they say, "You mean softball, right?" and it REALLY gets on my nerves. But I really like playing baseball and I've done it for about six or seven years now.
I played with one team that I really, really liked playing with, and the last year we were together we won the championship for our division! I was so happy. We got cool baseball caps and everything. But my coach has a daughter who plays softball, so he's coaching her team this year, and his son is moving up a level and I don't feel ready to do that yet. So I had to find a new team. My dad's coaching it, actually, and it has three stragglers from my team, stragglers from my brother's team (his coach is coaching a travel team this year), and then some other people who I rather like. We're a good team, I think, but I miss my old one.
I mostly play outfield but my dad likes moving us around, and I'm rather good at second base and very adjusted to it, so I play that too. My favorite team by far is the SF Giants, because my dad grew up in Cali and he's a fan, and hey, they're a good team. Won off and on for years now.
Insert good concluding sentence here, and GOODBYE!

I want to play baseball, but at this point, I'm just going to stick to softball. Last year was really the first year I became interested in playing, and I wanted to do baseball, not softball. The problem was that all the baseball players had been playing since they were 4 or 5 years old, and the only experience I had was playing in the yard with my dad and my brother. I didn't think I'd be good enough, and my mom didn't encourage me, and my dad suggested softball, so now I play softball. The stereotypical-ness of it still annoys me, but I've gotten used to it and it's still really fun to play.

Oh, I bet. I think a big factor was the fact that I was never really offered softball. It was just, you know, "(insert the names of two friends I play with here) are playing baseball, St.! Want to?" And of course I wanted to. At that age there were a lot of girls playing baseball, but they just kept diminishing until there's pretty much four girls on all the teams in the league. Still, I think that if offered I would have chosen baseball over softball, just because my family's really big on baseball.
