I have this

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I have this

I have this thing where I think numbers have a personality. Like 9 is a bully and 4 is a servant and 10 is a prince.

It's been happening when I do the multiplication facts like 9x7. I automatically think that something like 9 just kidnapped 7!

So anyway I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else.

Well, there's a thing called synesthesia where people see numbers, letters, words, and sounds as colours. I have heard of people with that who, as well as what I mentioned, have numbers with personalities, but if there are no colours it's probably not synesthesia.

I think of some letters and numbers having colors but I've never heard of giving them personalities.

Oh my Luna, I do that too! 5 is a spoiled brat. 4 is a child genius. 8 is really mean. They have colors too. 4 is blue, 2 is red, 5 is orange, and so on.

I don't really think of them as having personalities, but I do think of words and numbers as having certain traits. For instance, 1 is a bright, shiny red, like a ruby; the word pristine is covered in glittering, hued out crystal; 3 is a pale, soft lavender and kind of floats around; and hark is a bird cry, and I mean I see it as coming from the beak of a sparrow when I say it.

Oh, what a coincidence! My friends and I were just talking about this!

I think I do it a little bit; whenever I'm doing math I sort of give numbers personalities. But I can't remember any of them after I'm done with math, so that's why I say just a little bit. I have synesthesia, except I have the kind where when I hear words or see words, I see the color of them inside my head.

Wow. That sounds interesting! I don't have anything like that. To me, numbers are just numbers. O.o

Abi is right! I'm never going to spell synesthesia right, so forgive me, but we did a minor project in my Creative Writing class about this. You don't neccessarily have to associate things with colors-- there was an article we read that was all about a woman who personalized numbers 0-9. Some people do letters instead.

That's really cool, though! To be honest I've always wanted to meet someone with synesthesia because it's so interesting. xD

I think you are spelling it correctly!

All things have colors for me. Words, letters, numbers. Everything. My numbers don't really have personalities, though.

I might write a story about it later is I can think up the plot.  I can't believe that other people do this to. I was begining to think i was the only one.

Elvina! It happens to me too. And I see them as if they have their own color as well. One is red, two is lavender, three is orange, etc. etc.
