Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hey y'all. For

Hey y'all. For those who have noticed (thank you Butterfly and SE) I haven't been on a whole lot lately. My life has been extremely hectic as of late and I've just had a lot going on.

For those I don't talk to regularly, I'm 18 now and graduating this spring. I've had a LOT of change happen this school year. I'm at my dance studio now about four days a week for a minimum of three hours each of those days, I'm trying to finish up my school year so I can test and graduate this spring (math is the bane of my life, I swear), I'm attempting to get a job because I've decided through a series of things not to go to college, and Im basically trying to tie up all the loose ends of my life currently so I can better focus on what's to come. As you can guess, planning for the future is time consuming and rather frustrating. So between all that and not finding much to post on the few times I can make it on other than a few brief statements here and there, I haven't been highly active.

And frankly, at this point in time, I probably won't be on much anymore. I'm not leaving yet, I still love the cb. But I haven't got the time, so I'll poof on every so often, but probably only sometimes. If you wanna get in touch with me I'm on NaNo, my username is Anne Shirley101.

Hope y'all are doin' well, good luck to the new generation!

The BHR lives! We're super glad you haven't (yet) been wholly swallowed by that workload to match all workloads! Here's to staying afloat a bit more yet; you're much more hardy than I since you haven't sunken beneath yet and yielded to a hiatus. Good luck with the danceandmathandandschoolandjobhuntingandplanningandthesadsadbaneofourlivesthatisLIFE!

Thanks for letting us know you are still here. I hope you can stay on CB a little longer, 'cause I will miss you so very terribly when you leave!

Good luck on your tests, and I hope you do good with dance!

It's doubtful that you know me, but I really love your cb name and I hope you stay on CB if you can. Have fun "tying up the loose ends of you're life". Great metaphor, by the way.

P.S. Math is pretty much the ane of my life too.

I've seen your name around the cb when I check in, nice to meet you, Bibliophile! Thank you! Elimnating the blonde stereotype has always been important to me. I rather like your cb name too! I'll try to stay on the CB for as long as I can. Thanks, I'm a frequent user of random metaphors.

Just the feeling of you saying your age still gives me goosebumps.

(not in a weird, stalker-like way of course)

The CB hasn't been the same without you, Everinne, and Ruby here. Seriously.  And tons of others.

I have no idea who you are save for legend but you say you're not going to college. College seems daunting, but- as I was just writing in my ski lodge - you have to persevere. So what if you don't get the best grades? So what if you aren't good at a certain subject? You should still give it a try. But that's your life, and not mine. I was raised in a family where everyone went to college got degrees, and even went to grad school. Not going to college is almost unheard of. But again, it's your life. I can't stop you from doing what you think is best for you. Well, that was a lot to get out! I'm sorry for my extreme bias and judgment. Good luck in whatever you go, whatever you do.

Scylla, there are many successful, happy people who have not gone to college. I know many personally.

You hold a good point Scylla, college is greatly beneficial and can lead to a wonderful, better ensured future. Until very recently, I was actually quite adament and excited to go to college. But certain events happened that changed my opinion for now. For me, after a great deal of prayer, I decided college wasn't my desired course of action. I've grown up myself in a home where most people went to college as well. My dad went to grad school. He and my mom both highly encourage me to go to college, but at the same time recognize it is my choice, and I feel I am not led in that direction, they honor that decision as well. It isn't my grades or the effort required, I'm actually rather good at school. I have received above average scores before, taken honors classes, and made the equivilant of an being on the honor's role. But for me, I just know college isn't the right course. Not everyone is made or meant to go to college. Some people are unable to due to other reasoning. As Admin said, there are lots of people who have been happy and successful and did not go to college. It just means that those of us who don't have to work harder in other ways to ensure our successful future.

I'm not afraid of the task ahead of me, I'm fully willing to work hard, and I even like hard work. It means I'm accomplishing things. I want to make my way in this world by whatever means God has in store for me.
