Write things that people will relate to. They publish stories that they feel that the readers will connect to and enjoy. Either write realistic fiction (like S.E. said) or write about realistic characters with some fantasy object or happenstance. Also, read Stone Soup if you have it. It gives you ideas. (I'm a veteran at this. Laughing)
