Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Okay, I'm gonna
Okay, I'm gonna rant now.
So, I have this friend at my school, and he's a boy. Let's pretend his name is Connor for a sec.
So, Connor and I like to hang out, and some of my class thinks we're in "love" or something. I HATE it when they do that! It just makes me want to just... I don't know do something very nasty to them.
And today, I just gave Connor his notebook back, and a girl said, "OOOOOOHH! THEY'RE IN LOOOOVE!!" and later, a few kids were walking by and I was saying hi to Connor and the same girl said, "You make such a cute couple! We should write a book!" and a boy said, "You two--destined for love," and then a TEACHER rounded the corner, and said "Who? Who's in love?" Like it was some secret, and then I just started running and didn't stop until I was on the bus.
I feel sick.
Oh well, I got my feelings out.

I wish I could sympathize but that would be too OCC for me. Sorry. I guess we're getting to that age where the majority of miscellaneous CB posts are about crushes, friends breaking up, "boyfriend" fallacies, etc, etc. I wish I could say that I'm oblivious (that's oblivious with an accented second "o" that my computer can't make) to matters such as this, but alas I am not. I have a crush myself (cellist, duh, let's call him John for now) and today he told me that he's thinking about auditioning for Advanced Orchestra and I said it would probably make me sad. He said, "Well, you can audition with me," which was so sweet it nearly broke my heart. I told him I couldn't because I'm in seminar English which is the same period as Advanced Orchestra. That prevents me from getting into it because I can't give seminar up for orchestra. And one of Intermediate's cellists moved up today; I don't think we can afford to lose any more. I ended up telling "John" to audition if he thinks it would be best for him and if he would enjoy it and be committed to it if he got in. I think that made him pretty cheerful, so. . . Yeah. Sigh. . . .

I suppose it's alright to go out of character once in a blue moon. . . . I offer my condolences and sympathy to you as a virtual friend, Aquina. I say virtual because I have not received the honor to meet you in "real life". I hope this works out for you in the end and, most importantly, good luck.

I know exactly how you feel!!! There's this guy in my class, and we play-fight all the time. And everyone thinks we like each other! It's so annoying! If my class says anything about it, I get REALLY mad about it. REALLY MAD. They know not to say anything. But the older classes think we like each other and it's so annoying!

Yeah thats totally my life. So don't worry because you aren't the only one. The guy who everyone thinks I like and I pretend we're closely related since it's practically true. So if you look like him tell people that. Other than that I dunno. Sorry not to be much help.

Thanks, guys. I just didn't know where else to post/tell anyone about this.

That's a shame, I'm sorry for this dilemma, Aquina. It's really sad that kids first thoughts are to go to romance, despite the fact they're far too young. The best thing you can do is keep a level mind and attitude, and live it down. Arguing or trying too hard to show it isn't true would just confirm it in everyone's minds. Show yourself to be more mature than your peers, that what they doesn't matter, you know the truth. Living it down and giving as little to gossip about as possible would be the best way possible as it shows better reflection of your character, as well as give your peers a good example, whether they consciously realize it or not. It won't be easy to, I admit. But by the end you'll be quite pleased with yourself I think, and if worse comes to it and they don't stop, at least you, Connor, and God all know the truth, and that's the most important thing.
Good luck with this.

The world is a sad place, Aquina.
Ride it out. Just show everyone that you aren't in love, because, duh, you're not.

I know how you feel Aquaina. This scenario ruined my eight year old life.
