I'm not trying
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
I'm not trying
I'm not trying to dampen anything here.
So, when you start reading this, please don't turn away and say, "ST.OWL!!! HOW DARE YOU MAKE A THREAD THAT WILL JUST CONTINUE THIS NEUTRAL SIDE OF THIS CB WAR! YOU'RE KICK-STARTING IT AGAIN! ARE YOU REALLY THAT MUCH OF AN IDIOT?"
I may be idiotic in some cases.... actually, this may be one of them... but I don't care. Because guess what? This little "war" we had? Where a bunch of oldies left and everyone got sad? (but thank you for coming back, it has brightened everyone's souls!) Well.... it never really ended-- please don't try to deny it, we can all sense it-- it's just at a standstill.
And it's torturous.
So! I have thought of a cure! The main reason everyone's ticked off is because of how the CB is changing, right? About how newbies who know nothing (this is an extreme case, I don't mean that. No offense intended) are coming onto the CB and cluttering them with a million useless threads and horrible grammar?
Why don't we change that?
Basically, this is a thread encouraging the CBIC. I say, let's make more game threads! "Get-to-Know-You"s, maybe! Or maybe some instruction threads, like a Guide to Paragraphs or something. After all, as my gym teacher would say, "Perfect practice makes perfect!"
So, let's get this started! No more doom and gloom! No more newbies angry at the oldies for being angry at the newbies! We're one big happy CB family, and we shouldn't let anything get in our way!

I'm just not going to say anything. Except that the fact that you seem to be accusing me, me of all people of horrible grammar. I would not be caught dead with horrible grammar. I may make a few typos now and again but nobody's perfect. Like at the beginning of your post you said "dapen" and I have no clue what that means if anything at all. I suggest making another name game because I missed the last one.
(December 23, 2015 - 11:16 pm)
Scylla, this is exactly what I was saying we can't do! I'm not accusing you of horrible grammar, or anyone else, for that matter! I'm trying to say that we have to avoid these kinds of conversations, because it just kick-starts the war we're trying so hard to stop!
*Dampen.
(December 24, 2015 - 9:40 am)
I believe you did say dampen.
Why are we discussing whether St. Owl spelled dampen correctly anyway? I've seen people make mistakes and nobody correct them, which is fine, of course, but they don't correct the little mistakes like that because its NO BIG DEAL!
Actually, I added the missing m after the sender specified what the word was supposed to be. I correct some typos in comments before posting them, but sometimes I can't tell what the word is supposed to be and sometimes we don't have time to make corrections. We encourage everyone to do their own proofreading before submitting any comments.

I was unaware that any war was even going on. Threads like this must make it apparent, but it is my mastering of the skill oblivión that caused my unawareness. It is also these threads that kindles the spark of discontent in me. It makes me want to shift into a wolf form and howl to the clouds. Alas, I cannot shift shapes. Unfortunately.

You know what St. Owl, I can't think of any CBers offhand with bad grammar. What useless threads? As my 5th grade teacher would say: "When you admonish a group, the wrong people will feel guilty."
I have taken this to mean (and I might be wrong, bear with me) that those who actually care about the subject and are doing whatever it is correctly will be guilty, because they actually care. This really applies in CB. When you say: "Newbies with horrible grammar" I get scared: OMG! I'm a newbie! Am I? Sort of. Do I have awful grammar??? Did they make a new grammar rule I didn't learn about? AAAAAH!!!!! THEY HATE ME!!!!!!!
Then I close my laptop and vow not to go on CB (which thereabout lasts about 20 seconds).
As for the newbies that don't know anything... When I first started, I read a lot. I read and looked at stuff for about a month before I posted my first comment. (I used to say it was September 9, but that's actually wrong. That was the date of my first thing on the Inkwell, which I thought of as a huge accomplishment and thereby remembered. It's really Sept. 2.) By then I knew enough about the CB to know what was going on.
St, I know you feel strongly about this, but you already said this in almost the same wording on your previous thread. There aren't that many newbies coming on anymore. I really think that those terms "oldies" and "newbies" can make the "newbies" feel like that they're not as a valuable part of the CB. When Danie and Brookeria left, there was a huge hullaballoo. People moped about the ruination of the Chatterbox. Don't get me wrong, I was reallly sad too, but both of them left for (at least partially) non-CB reasons. If the newbies leave, then it's something like: "Okay bye. :(" Um. I can see why newbies might be depressed (like I was for most of the War).
Anyway, Abi is signing off. Nobody probably read this whole rant.
P.S. I learned about paragraph structure in first grade.
P.P.S. HAB thought up a nice term for the war: The Nostalgia War.
P.P.P.S. Ookz says gzwt. Very helpful.
P.P.P.P.S. "PS" stands for "post scriptum". If you add more "p"s then it just means "post post scriptum"—After the post scriptum.
You know, it might be helpful to just not use the terms "oldies" and "newbies" anymore. Especially "newbies."

I actually can't think of any CBer with bad grammar either. And I really like HAB's name for the war. Because it is exactly a nostalgia war.
(December 24, 2015 - 2:40 pm)
Look.
My last thread was complaining. My last thread was during the war and exclaiming my views on it. My last thread was mean, and hurtful, and rude, and exactly what you think the war would be like.
This is the opposite.
The first things I said? They. Are. Examples! I am NOT complaining about ANY CBers in ANY shape or form! I'm complaining about this! What you have been saying! Getting hurt and upset because of the things I pointed out I WANT TO STOP!
What I'm trying to say is this: comments like the ones you are posting are exactly what I'm saying we can't do. I'm saying we have to fix it. "Oldies" and "newbies" are mean terms, yes, I agree! We have to banish them, stop them, and stop any more of these so-called "Wars!"
You have to understand that nothing I'm saying is meant to be hurtful! Maybe just skip that first part so none of you get the wrong idea, because this is not what I'm saying!
P.S: I actually did read through your whole rant. And I could never consider you, Abigail, or you, Scylla, as new CBers.
(December 24, 2015 - 3:45 pm)
I'm sorry, St. Owl. I guess my comment was sort of complaining and not about what you were talking about. I just don't want to bring back that uncomfortable feeling of the NW. I feel like CB is fine now. We had a bad patch, and we got through it. I don't want to reopen old discomforts, that's all.
(December 24, 2015 - 7:27 pm)
Allright, I'll admit it. I'm a "newbie" who is a bad speller and just created a thread that some CBers will categorize as useless. But maybe it would help if there was more information available, and if the guidethreads were topped. Thanks, St. Owl. Who wants to argue anyway?
P.S. What's the CBIC?

(December 24, 2015 - 9:10 pm)
I just came here to roleplay. I'm not that interested in improving the CB for things I'm not going to do. But I'll still do them because I'm in the process of learning what true devotion, loyalty, and friendships are. Wish me luck!

What now? We're not allowed to make threads? St. Owl, I love the Harry Potter thread you made, but you should make your intentions clearer.
Everyone is allowed to make threads, subject to review for suitability by Admin.

No! That isn't what I meant at all! I meant more threads! More games! More get-to-know-each-others!

l feel as if this is just making a mountain out of a molehill. There's actually not that big of a problem then what you think is.
Heck, Danie, Brookeira and Maple have come back from the darkest days of the Nostalgia War. Do you know what that shows?
No?
Things never stay how they are. And that we take things way too seriously. l don't see a problem with the Chatterbox. Things have been running smoothly and nicely, even during the Nostalgia War, things actually weren't as bad as we all made them out to be.
Change what? Tell me, what is it that needs changed? Useless threads? Internet space is infinite. Bad grammar? What bad grammar? Frankly there is pretty good grammar around here. Less RPs? You're not participating in all of them. Things going slower? That is that nature of change and progress. You can't stop that. Oldies agery at newbies and visa versa? What? All of the oldies are very nice people-believe me l've meet some of them over NaNo-they have been quite nice to the newbies. When l joined, everyone was pretty nice about explaining things. So....l really think that none of the oldies have ever been angry at the newbies.
Please present to me a real and tangible problem that needs addressed. Until then, l will believe firmly that there is nothing to worry and panic about.
(December 26, 2015 - 6:20 pm)
Agreed. I don't think it's nearly as bad as St. (and others) are making it out to be.
