Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Christmas.

We all know that Christmas is just around the corner (aka in 3 days, 12 hours, 45 minutes, and 17 seconds... *screams like a maniac*).

Do you guys have any traditions? For example: If you believe in Santa, how you go to sleep the night before, or maybe just what your favorite wrapping paper is! Tell about it here!

In my family, the kids give one store bought gift and one homemade gift to each person in the family. This year, I am giving my little sister a Martha Speaks chapter book and a pink headband with a multicolered flower. My mom gets a tin sign that says "Coffee Shop Open 24 Hours" and a clay lily pad (I made the second). My dad gets a car calendar and a clay horseshoe. I am also giving True two things, but she will probably see it. Nice try True.

We always go to the same mall to get the gifts, and we also go to the local Christmas lights display. We get our tree the day after Christmas, and this year it was raining! We got drenched, but had hot cocoa when we came back home. We also make gingerbread cookies for Santa, leave carrots out for the reindeer, and  leave out some raisins for Mrs. Claus!

Remember that some people don't celebrate Christmas. Perhaps you could welcome others to share their unique holiday traditions like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, and any others that CBers might celebrate.

I always fly home to New York State so that I can see my family and friends. My mom and I decorate the tree and house while listening to old Christmas records. We never need to bake cookies because my dad ALWAYS gets tons of cookies from the ladies at Church. But I always make pie! :)
