Hey guys! Very
Hey guys! Very important question. Should I join NaNoWriMo? I want to, but... I don't know. Also if I do join, should I do NaNo, or YWP? What age is YWP for? Which one is more interesting? How do they work? Sorry. I'm curious. Thanks!

Yes, by all means, join! Even if writing a novel seems like something you couldn't do, no one ever accomplished anything by not trying. I've done it before, and I failed, but it was fun!
I believe NaNo is for ages 13 and up.

Up! Up you go!

J.B.E, you are correct. NaNoWriMo, I think, does one every month, while YWP does one on selected months. You can join YWP at any age, I think, but you have to be 13 or older to join NaNo.
Basically, in both, you write a novel in a month. That's it!

NaNoWriMo is in November. Both for the main site and YWP.
There's also Camp Nano, which is in July/August,it's somewhat the same as NaNo. That's all.

I want to do NaNo really bad, but I'm only 11 and I have no clue how to sign up for NaNo or YWP. I don't even know what YWP is. I see so many threads talking about Camp NaNo cabins, and signing up for NaNoWriMo and YWP, but I still don't even completely understand what it is! Help!

Dragonrider, here's a link:

YWP stands for Young Writers Program. It's no different than NaNo, really. All you do is write a novel in a month. Seriously. It's super simple. And it's free. Once you turn 13, you can join in on Camp NaNo and regular NaNo, but I don't think there's much difference between that and YWP. Besides the fact that you can do it more often.

I want to join NaNo...but i dont think i could do it! A month doesnt seem like very long! What happens if you finish? Can you write a story in more than a month? How long of a novel? I would love to...but...if all else failed at least id have gotten an idea!

In NaNoWriMo, the goal is to write 50,000 words, while in YWP as well as Camp NaNo youmset your own goal. If you win NaNo, all you get a virtual accomplishment badge and I think something on your profile page that says you won that year. But really, the goal is to spark your imagination, not to win!

You should do it!
InYWP you can set your word count goal to whaever you have the time to write.
And it doesn't really matter if you don't win, it's really just to get you motivated to write. Really, it'll be fun.
l'm Starry Flyet on YWP.
