Spelling and grammar

Spelling and grammar
Spelling and grammar are overrated.
l realize that we need a set of rules for the written languge, but really, does it have to be so enforced? l'm human, for goodness sakes, not a dicanary.
lf l misspell a word or misplace a comma, do you really think the whole world's going to explode? No. It'll keep spinin' 'round and 'round. l mea really, yuo cna undestnd stff liek dis, so wyh be so sensstive 'bout grammer?
Overrated. Overenforced. Overfawned over. Overobsessed. Over-whatever-you-get-my-point. Grammar and spelling shouldn't have to rule your lives. So c'mon, losen up, and love bad grammar for what it is. Me likes to.

I disagree with you-- it's a lot easier to understand clean grammar.
And I'm kind of OCPD sometimes-- whenever says something like "me and Alice finished our homework" I always have a very strong urge to correct them or just mutter "Alice and I."
I'm sorry if I sound like I'm pressuring you with this, but that is just the way I am.
Fruity: Crum.
Somebody: Yeah... I'm feeling kind of crummy right now...

I think grammar is fine, it's just overrated. So very enforced. And l'm glad that you like proper grammar, l've got nothing wrong with that. It's just that l don't like that everyone (in a general term) gets upset when l misspell something or the other. l'm not perfect, so what?
If you will ever talk to me in real life, l don't use proper grammar when l'm speaking. Not the least bit. And l have a heavy Western accent.

I don't get upset. I just instinctively correct. It's become a habit and I'm sort of notorious for it in class. So far I've controlled myself on the CB. Anyway, poor grammar doesn't upset me. I just correct it. Also, I love using "ain't."
Ditto for spelling.

Grammar is so/so with me. I like to talk and write in a way that's grammatically correct, but I don't super-stress over it. And spelling for me, well, I'm terrible at spelling, so I usually just do my best if I'm not sure what it means. However, I can't pretend I don't get ticked off when people say something like:
i like lots of foods but my faverit must b cereal. cereal is good and i like it alot. all hail cereal.
So, in short, I try to uphold all grammatical rules except for the ones concerning spelling.

Yes, l get what you mean.
My point is, use good grammar and all, but really, don't get so upset when there's a little typo.
l do not speak in a why that's grammarly correct, but whatever.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. I am a huge grammar freak, and improper grammar really gets on my nerves. Grammatical rules are in place for a reason, and should be upheld.
I agree, Booksy Owly. One of the primary reasons for grammar is so that others can clearly understand what you say or write!

I'm just glad that Somebody hasn't found this thread.
Okay, Shadow, would you rather read this:
Paul walked down the street. He saw a dog. "What a cute puppy," he said.
or tihs:
paul wal.ked downthe stret he saw, a dog what acute pupy he said
I admit it, I'm a grammar policewoman at times. I'm not too zealous, though. Warning, CBers: your grammar affects my opinion of you in my subconscious. I don't dislike any of you, but I really prefer it when you use proper spelling and grammar.

Who says I haven't found this thread? I was the first to reply, actually.

Oops! For some reason I read your comment as St. Owl. Sorry friend.

It's OK. :)

I'm going to agree with Brookeira here.

Definitely. I think that grammar affects how I think about people. Using me/I? That's okay, everyone does it. Writing in all lowercase with no periods or commas? Well, that just means you aren't trying. And trying means a lot.
(September 12, 2015 - 11:26 pm)
To be perfectly honest, I'm the same, Brookiera. Grammar means a lot to me, and the way people use it means a lot to me too. The way you type or speak can completely affect the way I think of you. I don't really like it very much, but it's just the way I am.
I agree with Booksy and Brookiera. Grammar is a rule, a rule that should be upheld. Like all rules, it was put in place for a reason, and in this case it is so that everything is easier to understand. I mean, ths u can uuundersnd, but it's much more helpful if you use correct spelling, puncuation, spacing, and all that whenever possible.
(September 7, 2015 - 3:47 pm)
Exactly.
l'm just saying that it's really overrated, and that you shouldn't get really upset because someone made a mistake. That's all l'm trying to say here.

Weeeellll... being an official memeber of the grammar police, it's a little hard for me to understand that. I suppose you're right, though. Sigh...
