Post here if you need advice, or wanna give some.

So I'm sad. I know this girl online, who I'm apparently "best friends" with. She's a very nice person....but...you see, she never actually plays the part of a best friend. Like if I am depressed or something she doesn't like...go out of her way to  cheer me up and give advice. We don't have real conversations. She's usually hanging with someone else. She gets edgy if I do something jokingly mean, and I don't know whaaaaaaaat to do. *cries* I broke into her private conversations to get back at her, which was wrong, I know. *cries more* help me......

Top!

I'm probably going to sound blunt and rude, so I'm sorry if I do.

There are a few things I'd like to point out. One is the fact that you're online. I can tell you from my own experience that while friendships blossom well with type-talks, it isn't the same as speaking face to face. It never will be. And while a lot of people make everlasting friendships, it can be harder to make good, solid, best friend friendships online.

Number two is that you must remember that she has more than one friend online. It's perfectly possible that this friend of yours has many, many friends and she's trying to interact with each of you equally. If this is so, that also supports the fact that she isn't as supportive as she could be... she's trying to interact with a lot of people while keeping her loyalties even. That can produce a lot of strain.

I won't pretend that breaking into a private conversation of hers was right, because it wasn't. I can tell you understand that, so I won't start scolding you for it.  But in the future, you should try not to.

Friendships are a many-layered thing, and they can get thin at times. I'm sorry if this happened to you. But remember: if things go astray, us CBers are always here to comfort you.
