Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I wish my

I wish my mom let me read books that are more of my reading level. I'm 11, but I have a 10thn grade level. It's unfair! Any advice? I need to read those books.

How is she preventing you from reading them? And why? And what books do you want to read?

One thing is that some books, especially those that are assigned in school to high schoolers, have really deep and mature and adult themes that are kinda not understandable to a lot of younger teens, like, cuz we just really don't get adulting yk? Andf then when we get older we're like, man, I need to reread this because I have a whole different perspective now. That happened to me (on a younger level ofc but still) with Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian. It's probably not the style and goodness and complexity of the writing that she doesn't want you to see, it's the content.

If you want I can recommend for you a few very good books that are still appropriate and full for your age. I can already think of a few that I recently read that were absolutely gr9.

Well, my little cousin is a year younger than me and not as smart and also doesn't understand the concept of some stuff but she reads The Hunger Games and the Lunar Chronichles and Divergent. I am capable of reading them because, like I said, I understand stuff that most 6th graders don't.
