To be, or
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
To be, or
To be, or not to be, that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing, end them? To die, to sleep--no more, and by sleep to say we end the heartache, and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to. Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.
Er . . . random? I've memorized the the first part of Hamlet's famous speech. I think it means:
To live, or not to live, that is the question. Is it more honorable to suffer the unjustness of life, or to end it by killing yourself? If death meant to sleep, and by sleep I mean to end the suffering of life, it would be wonderful.
Or something. What do you think it means?
This can be a thread about Shakespeare, quotes, randomness . . . ;D

My friend memorized Dr. Seuss's story about the Star-Bellied Sneetches. The. Whole. Thing. She recited it for us one time when we were bored. Now, admittedly I had "Dr. Seuss's ABC's" memorized at one time, but that was a long time ago, ok?

"The Star-Bellied Sneeches"? Hmmm . . . I haven't heard of that. What's it about? My mom says that when my uncle was little, he memorized the COMPLETE dialogue of Rocky. . . . But I'm not so sure that's possible . . .

I can't really say I like Shakespeare because I can't understand a word of anything in his plays! :D:D:D
I really like Yogi Berra's quotes though!!! :):):) For any of you who don't know who Yogi Berra is he was am amazing catcher for the New York Yankees. (If a Red Sox fan thinks a Yankees player was amazing then he must have been pretty good!)
Here are some of his quotes:
"If you come to a fork in the road, take it."
"It's like deja-vu, all over again."
"The future ain't what it used to be."
"The only color I don't have is navy brown."
"We made too many wrong mistakes."
"When you arrive at a fork in the road, take it."
"You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six."
"You should always go to other people's funerals, otherwise, they won't come to yours."
"He hits from both sides of the plate. He's amphibious."
"I always thought that record would stand until it was broken."
"I'm not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did."
"I never blame myself when
I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change
bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how
can I get mad at myself?"
"I never said most of the things I said."
"Ninety percent of this game is half mental."
"Take it with a grin of salt."
"You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going because you might not get there."
"You can observe a lot just by watching."
Whoa, sorry that was was a lot!!! :):D:)
Hope you like them:D

That's impressive!! Cool. Yah, I've read some of Shakespeare's pieces, but they were translated (to modern English) and abridged, so I really need to read the originals. I bet they're good. I've heard they are really hard to follow, but now that I know the jist of some of them, it might help. Why did you have to memorize it? Were you in Hamlet?? :)
Oh, and my favs so far are Much Ado About Nothing, A Comedy of Errors, one that I can't remember the name of, and (wait I'll go look it up...) (oh, I think it was Twelfth Night, or, what you will) (yah, that's it. It's the one that they made a modern version of called She's the Man, with Amanda something-or-other) Oh, well, there was another (I think) but as usual, I can't remember what it is, even though I'm looking at a list of the one I've read. Ugg.
Anyway, cool, I can't wait to see what people have to say on this thread. :)

Well, first I read the play in manga form, by SparkNotes. It's called "No Fear Shakespeare". It wasn't abridged, but it was translated. AND IT WAS SOOO INTERESTING!!! So I read Romeo and Juliet, too, by SparkNotes. And since it was so interesting, I bought the real, unabridged play and read it. It made almost perfect sense to me because if you didn't know what a word meant, there were footnotes at the bottom with the definition, and also I already knew what the people were going to say because in a way, I had already read it!! SparkNotes Hamlet is especially good, and I really recommend you try it.
