The Trojan War!
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
The Trojan War!
The Trojan War! Currently in Social Studies we are studying the Greeks and we spent a few weeks on the Trojan war. Even though we can't prove it really happened, I still find it fascinating. So if anybody else is interested I would love to talk about it with someone. I am even considering making it into an RP. . . Also if anyone is interested but doesn't know the story I could tell it to you! We read parts of the Illiad and the Odyssey in class and watched select scenes of the movie Troy. So fellow Greek fanatics come forth and fanatisize!

We studied Ancienc Greece last year- at the end of our studies we got to see an awesome adapation of the Odyssey at our local theator. I loved reading about the era...oh, maybe I should find a CrashCourse on the Trojan War...

Oh wow I was just reading about that. We have to read these small books at school, then take online quizzes on them. So I've read 3 that featured the Trojan War. One was about the Odyssey, one was Achilles, and the other was Helen of Troy. It was cool to get it from different points of view. Who could believe this 10-year war all started because of a love conflict?! I love Greek things since I've started reading Percy Jackson. I also read about Hercules and some assorted myths in these books.
"The face that launched 1,000 ships . . ."

Exactly, Admin. Exactly.

I know! It is kind of strange how Hector and Paris are brothers but Hector is so responsible and loyal to his country and Paris is like, "Oh, I've been set to be a shepherd by my father because it is prophescised that I will one day destroy Troy, but I'm going to steal our enemie's wife at a party he threw, sounds a-okay to me."

Oh yeah, I think it's pretty cool!
There's a comic I get, The Olympians, and in the last two (Aphrodite and Ares) it's all about the Trojan War! According to mythology, it was a) all Aphrodite's fault and B) A complete waste of time because if I remember correctly both sides lost like all of their men and then the Greeks got Helen back anyway. POINTLESS. (the kidnapping of Helen, I mean.)
And another thing! You can't just "steal" someone! That makes nooo sense! Well, it does, but it's kind of barbaric, you know? Because humans are living things, not trinkets to be sold and taken away!!!

We are also studiying ancient Greece! In fact, we had a debate about whether the Trojan War was history or myth. I was put on the history side (we didn't get to choose) and my team won, but I still don't think that it was real. Good story though!

After studying Greece for my first semester I had to write a paper on a Greek topic and I picked the Trojan War.
I got an A on it so I suppose it was good.
