2012, many people
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
2012, many people
2012, many people are saying that crazy things are going to happen. I've heard natural dissasters, the poles switching, and even becoming one with our higher beings. What do you guys think about this?

The world will not end in 2012; that is rubbish!!!!!! I don't know about you guys, but I plan to live to see 2013 and beond. Just keep in mind that the people predicting this also belive that global warming exists, and predicted that the world was going to end in 2000, and several other dates.

Agreed!

Yeah. There was one date this summer that was on a Sunday and my pastor said he thought it would've been funny attach a harness to him and a cord to the ceiling that we couldn't see and then have someone raise up and he'd like wave to us and make it look like he was being lifted off to Heaven. :) He didn't believe the world would end, he just thought it would be funny. :) I have a cool pastor. He's on the radio every morning at 6 and on Sundays! Hmmm. That was random . . .

Just note that some people still do believe in global warming, so it may not be wise to talk as if it's so unkikely it shouldn't even be considered. You might offend someone. *remembers reading several heated arguments about it*

I hope it doesnt cause I going over to england to see the games!
Anyway i don't think we should believe people (aztecs) who were the ones who liked to sacrifce people! Natural disasters? maybe. pole Switching? unlikey. I but I agree that it is kinda spooky.....

Hahaha.... I forgot about this thread... But you know, so what if the world ends? Finally, PEACE! Of course, the whole 2012 thing is fake and won't happen. Ah well. Just gotta hope Christ comes back soon. Maybe He'll come back in 2011!

Oh, and, as Facebook says, we survived Y2K, Bird Flu, Mad Cow Disease, 9/11, and Swine Flu. I think we'll be okay.

Wow, it's already almost 2014 .
Nothing happened! Aha, I wonder what elseeeee lies ahead in these future months, years and so on!

Hello, kids! This is Owlgirl. I am writing this in 2016. I am a CBer from the fuuuuuuuuuuutuuuuuuuuure....
*waves hands and makes sci-fi noises*
Guess what? The world DIDN'T end!
Just kidding it did. I'm writing this from space, in a tiny pod. I am the only survivor of the apocalypse.
JUST KIDDING it really didn't end.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA sorry, I couldn't help myself.
It was actually a Mayan prophecy, not an Aztec prophecy, that predicted doomsday would be in December 2012. Then scholars realized they had translated it wrong, and announced that the Mayans had predicted it would be in 2015.
But then guess what? The world didn't end in 2015 either!
HEEHEEEHEEEHEEE
Oh, one more thing, about something Ima said:
"Just note that some people still do believe in global warming, so it may not be wise to talk as if it's so unkikely it shouldn't even be considered. You might offend someone."
"Some people still do believe in global warming"? You say it like it's an ancient belief! How times have changed! HEEHEEHEE almost everyone believes in global warming now! We talk about it and complain about it freely on the CB now.
(August 18, 2016 - 6:38 pm)
Apologies, I'll rephrase that; I should not use words like "almost everyone". The majority of the world--yes, I looked up the statistic--believes in global warming. At least 70%, last time I checked.

*Smiles* Remember the fight I had with Cho about it?
(August 24, 2016 - 2:57 pm)
Haha not 2012, it's 2020 that's going crazy!
-Global pandemic
-Giant wildfires
-Into greek named storms
-200,000+ deaths in US
Need I say more?

Totally. I've lived a year and a half in quarantine, from age 6 to age 8, and potentially to age 9. I've had to celebrate two of my birthdays on Zoom or locally. I am so surprised there haven't been any books about the pandemic or the aftermath of it.

All this just goes to show you should never put your faith in random prophecies :)
Although I will say that the way climate change is going, the world is going to experience huge changes pretty soon, which I am not looking forward to. Already there are unprecedented wildfires, tropical storms, droughts... this is not just Weird Weather Which Will Go Away, this is something worrying. But it's amazing how no one seems to understand that :/
