Chatterbox: Down to Earth

How?!What?!Huh!?!

How?!What?!Huh!?!

I've been on Cricket almost all day today (new record for me!), and I've realized that, like, 5 of you have skipped grades. I'm an All-As student, but I've never skipped a grade! How the heck do you do it? Who decides if you can skip or not? How can I skip a grade? Any advice?

A lot of us are homeschooled, and homeschoolers have the easier option of getting and doing work that is beyond our grade level. Many homeschoolers I know skip grades, and just do work that is beyond the grade that their age determines they should be in. I don't really know about public school students though.

I'm homeschooled, and I'm trying to skip 6th grade. I'm ALMOST there!! You see, for me to do I have to finish all my courses early. Soooo, I do multiple lessons a day. =)

I'm homeschooled , and I skipped 4th , 7th and 8th . So , I'm 15 and have 7 credits left to graduate .

It's pretty easy ... my brain does it until it gets boring , so I test out ... How I went from 6th grade to a freshman ... I litereally have no idea. That's a question for mi madre ...

Hmmm.... I'm not homeschooled, you see, any advice on skipping grades in public school? Or getting my parents to homeschool me? I really think my grade is to easy!

I don't know if you are new, or if you are just using a pseudonomous (I spelled that wrong), but if you are unaware, I have had severe trouble in public school.

Anyway, I am gifted. In an extreme way. Unfortuanatly, my parents disagree with skipping grades, and so I only spend a few classes a week in eighth grade. (I'm in sixth)

I tried to convince my parents to allow me to homeschool as well. I did tons of research, designed a complete curriculum, and then I put it all together in a powerpoint and presented it to them.

They said no.

It's alright, though. I had so much fun planning the curriculum and stuff that it wasn't much of an issue that I didn't get to go.

And, as a bonus, my parents realized I was more unhappy in school than I had let on before. Next school year, I'm going to a private school for gifted kids (hopefully). That'll be great. They do high school and college level material. Unfortunetly, the school is only 6, 7, and eighth grade, so high school is going to be confusing.

Um, I think a guidance counseler has to be involved to skip a grade. I'm not really sure. I have a couple links, but they will probably be useless because admin probably won't post them.

Good luck!

My dad skipped first grade.

My grandparents thought that he should, the teachers said he should try first grade.

On the first day of school they were doing subtraction and my dad was like, "Are we doing multiplucation today?" so he skipped first grade.

What? They skipped him for that? I was doing division in kindergarten and reading fifth grade level books?
