Chatterbox: Down to Earth

CollegeSo, I

College

So, I'm quickly approaching the end of my junior year, so I've really started to research college a lot . Since Im graduating  at 16 , I'm either going to college when I'm 17 going on 18 , or 18 going on 19 .

I'm planning on applying to Rice (#1 ranked university in Texas), Trinity (ranked second in Texas) and Baylor (ranke #8). I'm positive that I'll be able to get into all three of these schools  , so it will definitey be a tough decision.  Rice is my top school, but Trinity is about an hour and a half closer to home.  And since I'm going to college so young, I don't want to be too far from home. Baylor is ony about 3 hours too , so it all just depends .

I was just wondering , what colleges are you going to apply too ? How are they ranked in your state ? And , if you're not looking into colleges yet , this mighht not be the right thread yet :)

My friend's parents both went to Rice. THey are both pretty smart, too. The college I'm interesteed in is only a half hour way. But, I don't need to worry about that.

Yeah , it's really hard to get into . I think they accept something like 15 or 16% of the applicants. Undecided

So this year and next year I'm determined to get straight A's on my final transcript.  I've never had straight A's in high school (A's and a few B's), so it's a stretch for me :) But, I only have like 3 B's , and theyre all in the 85 range , so I know I can bring them up!

You know what I've been thinking? That I might bump into some CBers around my age when I go to college. I'll just be like, "Wait have you heard of the Chatterbox? Really? Are you __________ ?".                                                                                                        insert CBer here

Anybody else think this might happen?

I would really like to go to FIT. Fashion Institute of Technology. However, it's really expensive. *sigh* Oh well.

I'll be graduating when I'm 17, but then my birthday's in the summer so I'll be 18 when I start college (I'll be able to vote in the 2016 election!).

Living closer isn't really an issue for me, especially since I'm only considering two schools in Illinois, U Chicago and U of I Champaign. U of I Champaign-Urbana is one of our state schools, and it's two hours away, with a fairly good engineering and computer science program. U Chicago is private, but it's only half an hour away (or an hour, depending on how bad traffic is). U Chicago is also very appealing because every year there's a four-year full-ride scholarship offered to a student specifically from my high school from some fund from an alumni. I'm planning to apply to the program, and if I receive the full-ride, then I'll almost definitely go there. Additionally, U Chicago has an excellent computer science program. I don't know the rankings by state, but I assume U Chicago is #1 in my state (otherwise it would be Northwestern, which is another one I'm considering).

All of the other schools I'm planning to apply to are out of state, and most of them are super far. The closest is Carnegie Mellon, I think, which is a ~seven hour drive. MIT and Johns Hopkins are even farther, and then the California schools I'm looking at are way too far to drive. There, I'm looking at Stanford, Caltech, and UC Berkeley.

Right now, I feel like a second semester senior in that I want to put zero effort into school but my brain is telling me no, SC, you have to do your chem homework now.

I wish I could go to Berkely or Brown , but I feel like I'll be too young to go across the country . But , for grad school I will try and get into some really good schools , regardless of distance since I'll be around 22 or 23 .

& I hear you about the school work Undecided I'm pretty much the same way .

My mom applied to all Ivy League's (w. the exception of some school in New York and UT) and got accepted . So I have some huge shoes to fill .

I really want to go to RISD... (Rhode Island School of Design), but that's more one of those "in your dreams" things.

I want to go to MIT. But it's soooo hard! I think it's the #1 best computer science school, and it's kinda expensive too. But I may be able to get into it. I already skipped one grade (I'm in seventh ^^) and my grades are either As or A+s.

My parents both went to University of North Carolina. I might go there, but it is really hard to get into and costs like $50,000 a year because I'm out of state. I think my #1 choice is University of Virginia because it is an artsy school. But, then again, I probably shouldn't be thinking about this yet because I am only in 6th grade.

Trust me , when you're in high school everything will change . So don't worry about college if you're still in middle school ! It's stressful jsut thinking about it !

I'm actually going to college in the Fall. I don't want to say which...this is a public site, after all...but it's a women's college and in the East Coast and well known as far as the women's colleges go, so you probably could narrow it down a little. NO ONE cast my age up to me. *looks around murderously*
