Aw, hope it feels better, S.E.! How did you break it?

My dad punted a football and I caught it. I overextended the ligaments in my finger and pulled a chip of bone off.

Hope you are better soon!

I feel your pain. I sprained a finger playing flag football earlier this year (so not quite as painful, but I get the 'can't do anything' thing). Which finger?
How have you been typing then?

Very slowly with just my left hand.

Oh gosh, S.E. I'm so sorry! That's not fun AT ALL, and I can REALLY relate to how you feel. I had surgery on my finger years ago. It was bandaged for months, I couldn't run, couldn't play, couldn't climb, even after the bandages came off till it was fully healed. (Basically that hand was useless for the majority of the year.) And of course I also broke my nose a while ago.
My best suggestion is to first keep it level. I slept with my hand propped up on a pillow with the surgery, and I made sure not to look up or down to much when I broke my nose. Also try keeping your hand close to your body, cause that helps to reduce the likelyhood of you hitting it against something. (You don't realize how often your hand hits stuff till it hurts every time you even lightly touch something.) And finally, just keep yourself taking pain medication every so often. A simple Tylenol can do a world of wonder. All these methods helped for my nose break and my surgery.
I'll be praying for you that your finger heals quickly! I hope the break wasn't really bad. Is it a cast now? Do you know when you'll be able to do things again? How's it like trying to write and stuff?

It's getting better, but it will be months before I get my mobility back.

Oh, S.E., I hope you'll be better! I know it's not fun to break a bone, and I hope you'll be feeling better soon! You'll be in my prayers.

I'm so sorry! I've never broken a bone before, so I don't know what it's like. I'm sure it must really hurt.

I hope you feel better soon S.E.!
