Religions.

I know lots of people on here are Christian, but are any of you guys Jewish or anything else? I'm really interested in different religions. I know there's a lot of similarities between Islam and Christianity. For example, all of the Bible stories are in the Quran: Noah and the ark, David and Goliath, etc.

So I thought we could talk about religions here.

@S.E. - Well, I'm a Catholic, so I might be able to answer your question. Do you mean the difference between Catholicism and other Christian denominations, or Catholicism and religions in general?

Hey, S.E.! I'm a Christian, but I've seen a lot of other religions. Catholics are sort of like us, but they pray to Mary, and they are a little bit stricter than us. I also think that they recite things. I think that their pastor also wears a robe. I hope that answered your question! Sorry if I got anything wrong, or if I offended anyone!

I am a Catholic.

There are more differences between Catholics and Protestants than I could explain.

First of all, Protestants started the Protestant Reformation because they didn't like what the Catholic Church taught. I think that in itself is just plain silly because I believe the Catholic Church is the one true Church started by Jesus Christ.

Second, Catholicism began in 33 A.D. when Protestantism began around 1550 so the Catholic Church started about one thousand five hundred years before Protestants.

So there is in a nutshell what the difference between Catholics and Protestants.

(P.S. Even though this might seem mean, it is pure truth and I am not trying to be mean to anybody I am just stating the facts.)

Feel free to ask me questions!

May God bless you!

There are many differences between the various Protestan denominations. Some of them are much more similar to Roman Catholicism than others.

Okay, no one freak out, or be mean, or anything, but, I'm LDS (Later Day Saint), more commonly known as, Mormons :). Lots of people don't like us, because they have wrong information. So please, don't stop being my friend, because I'm Mormon. I've just had it happen a lot. *sigh*. Whatever, xD. Feel free to ask questions!

What's a Mormon?

And I know what you mean about people freaking out because they have wrong information. Lots of people think Muslims are terrorists. Terrorist Muslims aren't really Muslims. They have this twisted idea of Islam. Some people also judge us on how Muslims dress. Muslims are supposed to be modest (not just women; men, too).

So, yeah, I know what you mean. And I would never judge you based on your religion, Winter Firefly. You'll always be my friends, regardless of your beliefs!

Yeah, Winter Firefly, don't worry, we are all from different cultures here! And Bookbug, It's sadly true what you said about terrorist muslims, they've got a wrong idea. *sigh*

I would like for someone to explain to me what the difference between all these different types of Chrisitianity are. There's Presbyterian, Unifactionist, etc. What's the difference among them?

*cough* Well, Unificationism isn't exactly a form of Christianity. Well, some people might see it that way (one book I read put it like that) but the majority don't. When I think of Christianity, I think religions that think of Jesus as their Saviour, or something along that line. Christians wait for the second coming of the Messiah, the son of God. Unificationists believe that the Messiah has finally come again, and that all people are children of God. We don't believe that Jesus is our Saviour, or that he should have died on the cross. It gets very complicated, as most religions do, but I think that mainly covers it.
