Chatterbox: Down to Earth

After reading a

After reading a few of the threads relevant to the topic, I am now aware of the tension which exists on the CB between oldies and newbies. And now I will openly admit it: I am guilty of being newbie-phobic. When Crowd Sorcery brought a flood of new people, I shied away from them. But that is solely because I've always been that way, from the time I was a baby and spat out baby food which deviated from the kind my mother usually bought. But now, just as I've learned to try new foods, I must learn to except that the CB will change.

Newbies, I'd adore getting to know you all! Please, let's talk in the comments! I'm only an "older newbie" myself, so my prejudice was absolutely unreasonable anyways.

P.S. I didn't write with offense in mind; but rather I wish to get a fresh start with the newbies. Please don't write hateful comments. I dislike when well-meaning threads disintegrate into arguments.

In All Sincerity,

Choca

Well-written, Choco. I've never really made a distinction between oldies and newbies. I always felt happy when all those newbies came. But sometimes, people tend to be more interactive with others they are familiar with. I'm not saying that's how I feel. I'm just saying that maybe others felt that way. I'm not sure if I'm a newbie or an oldie. I guess you could say I'm an old newbie. But, please everyone, let's try to make the CB the best it can be. The CB is a place for us to talk, to just be ourselves. Let's not spoil it by shying away from new CBers or being prejudice.

Thank you, Bookbug! I agree with you that we shouldn't ruin the CB by our prejudice. The Chatterbox is meant to be welcome to all, and I'm SO SORRY that I ever acted otherwise in ANY way!!!

Well actually, I looked at posts, I just never commented on them. And that was like three years ago.

I, well, just, I look up to the 'oldies' as if they were a big sister/brother, and with the 'newbies' (Such as myself xD) I feel as if they were younger, or slightly older siblings, that I could joke aroung with, etc. I also feel that way with the 'oldies.' I must admit, I know BHR, True and Cori (of course, dur! She got me to come on here), a lot more than the others. I wanna know a'll'a ya'll more, but, I dunno, just felt like I should say that. Whoooo!

Fluffy says; icnn. I can? You can what Fluffster?

I'm not exactly a newbie anymore, but I have only been here since July, so I guess I am. It actually wasn't really Crowd Sorcery that dragged me in, I don't really know what it was. I think I was with my sorta-babysitter and we were making the bug catcher in the July issue, and she saw the thing about Crowd Sorcery and said, "What's Chatterbox?" and I thought I would check it out, so I did the next day. So I guess it was kind of Crowd Sorcery that brought me in, but there actually really wasn't a whole lot of newbies because of that. We're still a small community, and I like that.

P.S. Do you guys still think of me as a newbie?

@EarthGirl,

I think of you as a 'newbie', yes, however, I also think I am a 'newbie', and I joined Aug 29, 2014, so I will officially be an 'oldie' Aug 29, 2015.

Oh, and also, I've just been bringing this up in random places because I REALLY WANT TO KNOW: DOES ANYBODY LIVE IN VIRGINIA?
