HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!
HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!
Halloween is tomorrow, and I'm SO excited! Halloween is my most favorite holiday! Free candy, getting to cosplay, neat decorations, tv specials, sweater weather, it's fall, my most favorite season, and I get to be as dorky as can be all month long!
So what are y'all doing for Halloween? Are you going trick-or-treating? What are you dressing up as? What are y'all's family's traditions?
My family always get pumpkins from this same stand and do their maze and all, then we paint the pumpkins together when we get home. We watch tv specials and movies like Halloween Wars, The Little Vampire, and Pooh's Heffalump Halloween!
Then of course on Halloween, we go trick-or-treating! I'm going as Liesel Meminger this year from The Book Thief which I'm super excited about! Though currently, in my day-before-Halloween excitement I have streaked hair and painted nails and a Halloween t-shirt!
So what about y'all?

I love Halloween too! It's not my favorite holiday, but I do love it! This year, since we live in the suburbs and a bunch of random people migrate here for Halloween, I invited a few (okay, like five or six) of my friends to come and join us.
Our only traditions are carving pumpkins (which we haven't done yet) and putting up Halloween decorations (which we haven't done yet, either).
I'm going as Annabeth Chase, which was a pretty good idea, except that I lost my Yankees cap. My other friend are going as Percy Jackson related characters too.
Gotta run- look for my Yankees cap! Happy pre-Halloween!

My family puts up Halloween decorations too!
OHMYGOSH that's awesome! I went as steampunk Annabeth last year, and classic Annabeth the year before that. She makes such a cool costume! Do you have her Camp Half-Blood necklace or her dagger?

Yay! I'm so excited! I'm going to be Rapunzel from Tangled! Today all my friends and I dressed up in ballet versions of Disney princess costumes and wore them to dance.
Tomorrow I'm going trick or treating with two of my friends as Rapunzel (me), Snow White, and Ariel, and then spending the night at one of my friend's houses afterwards.
I'm so excited about the Rapunzul costume my mom made! I would try and post a photo of it (not on me) but I'm too lazy, haha.

Yay! I can't wait until tonight!
Usually, my family goes to this pumpkin patch and look for pumpkins about a week before Halloween. Sometimes we will go to a different patch that has a train take you to a patch, but that is more rare. Then we go home a carve the pumpkins. We take the seeds, and my mom coated them in salt, pepper or lemon pepper and bakes them. On Halloween, before we get in our costumes, we decorate our house with little figurines and pumpkin lanterns. Then we get ready and have to get pictures outside before actually trick or treating. Afterwards, we go to this pizza place in our costumes and they give something free away.
This year though, all my siblings are going with their friends or to parties, so I have no one to go with. This year I think I will dress up in my costume and pass out candy to the few kids that come to our house.
I am dressing up as one of the 12 Dancing Princesses. I will wear an old ballet costume that is blue and gold, old pointe shoes and a tiara. And guess what! We have snow on the ground this Halloween, so I am glad that I won't freeze in my ballet tights and costume!
Happy Halloween everyone!

I'm an old witch, baby powder is amazing for grey or white hair!

@BHR: Unfortunately, I am not in the possession of a necklace or a dagger. But I read your post, and Steampunk Annabeth sounds super awesome!

Happy Halloween everyone!
Usually, my siblings are all dressed up and we all go trick-or-treating in the evening and the whole day is basically one excitment bath. And my parents are just usually not part of the celebration because of the amount of sugar we consume. Hehe.
This year, my mother objected to the amount of sugar we'd be consuming and also my sisters are in their late teens and I look like I'm in my late teens so we're a little too old to go trick-or-treating at least in my nieghborhood. My neighbors would be shooting us weird looks. Because they're awful like that.
But we've made the best of it. My sister and I spent the whole of yesterday making snacks and bakeries. Everyone else has school or work today so they won't be home until the late afternoon. Thus, we put the snacks into little bags and we put up a sign on the back door that warns the siblings to go around the front. There, as they come home, my sister and I will give each of them their goodies. No one else knows what we're doing, so it'll be a surprise. And we're going to watch Insidious tonight.
Also, we have to go out in the evening to walk a dog for my elderly neighbor so we're all dressing up anyway. I have my gyspy costume on currently but I'll freeze if I go out in that so I'm planning to go and dig around in the basement with my sisters and figure something out. And of course, we'll stop by just a few houses on our walk . . .
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
And just because I'm evil, remember darlings . . . NaNo is tomorrow. Yes, you are allowed to go and run around in circles screaming now. It's okay.

I'm going as Mary Poppins, though not a very good costume. Only a hat, shirt, dress, shoes, socks, and ribbon for a belt. Yup.
We'll go out tonight, to a trick-or-treat set up downtown, and a church nearby always has some fun, though I don't think I'll go trick-or-treating, since the average age is eight. But I'll come along and see if I can steal some extra candy from my sisters.
We paint mini pumpkins at our house. Mine is a vampire, and there's also a clown and a princess. We carved a jack-o-lantern, and got a fun little table set up with fake "witch's hands" (green gloves decorated with "rings and braclets.") We roasted pumpkin seeds the other day, but they're all gone now.
@Cori; FREAKOUT!!!!!! Grief, I don't think it's ever creeped up on me that fast!
Do you have a Mary Poppins umbrella? Esp. one with a parrot head?

I love Halloween! I just came back from trick or treating. I went as Cleopatra! I got a lot of candy and my feet are tired from walking... :) Hope everyone had a frightfully fun night!

It was awesome!!!! Despite the fact that once again very few people recognised my costume *coughCOUGHpiratehintiesCough* anywho....
Dad went as Charlie Brown ghost costume. It was cool. So the whole night we heard 'i got a rock.' Jokes

I carve pumpkins every single year and I am always trying to keep the knife away from my little brother. Then of course we go trick-or-treating. This year I went as Medusa. I had a huge foam wig with snakes that is very top heavy. My brother's friend came with us and he was a football player. My brother went as a mummy. My grandma gave away boring ol' pretzels, but my retired ex-P.E. teacher gave away huge king-size candy bars (TWIX!I LOVE TWIX!). Then we went home and watched Paranorman and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
P.S. Halloween is my 2nd favorite holiday.
P.P.S. I got to trick-or-treat at a house made by FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT! OMG!
P.P.P.S. Has anybody heard of Frank Lloyd Wright?

Hmm... Did I not submit my post that I worked on all recess yesterday?! Hmph!

@ Katie: Ah, well, the most important thing is the t-shirt. Did anyone recognize you? When I went as her both times, nobody knew who I was. Then again, they didn't know who I was a Liesel either. (People are here are so uneducated.)
@Ivy: Oh my gosh, that sounds so pretty! I always thought Rapunzel's dress was really pretty, cause it was simple yet very elegant.
@ True: Oh my gosh, Mary Poppins, I love it. That is seriously ingenious.
@ Cori: Thank you for that oh-so painful reminder. *moans and burries self away cause I still have no definite novel plan and NaNo officially started today*

Ah, well, there was a last minute change of plans. Instead, I wore the white button down shirt, a long black skirt, with a red ribbon around my waist. My hair was in a bun, and I wore a shawl (thank goodness I did, it was so cold!), instead, and was a schoolmarm, or whatever else one could imagine me to be. It was fun, though. :)
I love the idea for Leisel Meminger, BHR! I would love to have done this, it sounds like a wonderful costume!
*groans* NaNo. I only did . . . 1k or so. Boy, oh boy.
Cappie says "mixd" Mixed up brain? Yes, correct.

Oh well that sounds neat too! I love old fashioned costumes. Next year I'm thinking about a Colonial era girl, like Felicity Merriman. Yours sounds so cute! I can totally picture it.
Thanks! The costume was actually fairly simple: Khaki, wavy, knee length skirt, black tights, brown lace-up boots, a grey t-shirt, a brown, corduroy blazer, and I curled my hair. I carried the book too, so I thought it completed the look pretty well.
Oh tell me about it. I only did a thousand or so as well. Life is too busy.
