I know there are not a lot of Jews on this site, but if you exist, please speak up on this thread! My sister's bat mitzvah is coming up soon, in May, and I'm really excited!

back to the Down to Earth

Well, I'm sort of Jewish, but I don't go to Temple, or anything.  I celebrate Hanukah, and sometimes Passover, but other than that, I'm not much of a jew.  :)

 

I have a friend, who has a friend who's doing her Bat Mitzvah soon too!!!!

Tell you sister good luck!!!!!!  :)

I'd been so nervous being the center of attention in such a large gathering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is a bat mitzvah?  My aunt is Jewish!! :D

A bat mitzvah is a coming-of-age ceremony for Jewish girls that they do either when they're twelve or thirteen. A bar mitzvah is the same thing, only for boys.

I'm mostly like Laura. You see, my mom's Lutheran, and my dad's Jewish. We celebrate Christmas, Hanukah, and sometimes Passover, but that's about the extent of our religious activities. Neither of my parents was ever really religious to begin with, and when they married, *shrugs*. My parents say that my sister and I can either choose a religion when we get older or stay both, if we want. My dad's cousin, though, is really religious. She sings at a temple (oh, what's the word for that person? Help me, here, Lena :)) and their family does all the Jewish holidays. I hope your sister has a nice Bat Mitzvah!

I'm half Jewish, but I go to temple and stuff, not church. I LOVE bar/bat mitzvahs!! Have fun at your sister's bat mitzvah, and wish her luck!

I am Jewish and I celebrate all holidays. I go to services and am in the choir at my Hebrew school. I'm going to have my bat mitzvah at 14 since we started getting ready too late.
