Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Maybe homeschool?

Maybe homeschool?

I made a power point presentation for my parents. They said it is complicated.

I might go to this private school for the gifted next year. My parents are going to set up an appointment with the guidance counselor.

It's still a bummer that you can't homeschool, but I'm happy you might try a different school. Maybe it will be better.

S.E., I would like to know why your mom doesn't want to homeschool. And is your dad against it too?

My mum says she can't have me home.

Why not?

Oh, and you don't haved to be home a lot when you homeschool. You can work at a library, and you can have tutors for some subjects. I do almost all my work at the library and I take science classes at my museum.

I really hope you'll get to homeschool, S.E.! As Bookbug said, you don't have to be home to homeschool. It can be done anywhere. The majority of my work is often done in the car, at doctor or dentist offices, or anywhere else my parents need me to be at the time. And yeah, the library is a great place! If both your parents work, then depending, you can do your work at their workplace.

You could also try to find homeschool classes. They're often once a week at a church, someone's home, or some other functional place. Depending on what you take, they can last anywhere from an hour, to half a day, to a full school day. For the rest of the week, you finish assignments assigned in the class.

Or there are options online. Those can be expensive, I'll say, but they have live teachers, day to day work, and homework assignments like going to school, but it can be done anywhere you have internet. (I tried doing work from a computer CD once, and I really didn't like it, so internet work isn't really my thing, but it may work for you.)

I'm praying for you! I really want you to be able to have the best education possible, cause with homeschooling, I love school. You certainly have the drive and desire, and I think you'll really benefit from the experience. Just know I'm rooting for you!

I've gone to private school my whole (school) life and I've never known what it's like to be in public school. My school is really small (one grade is like 50 kids, that's it) and so we're with the same people every year. We don't switch classes until middle school. Oh and by the way it's one school from preschool (3-year-olds) to 8th grade (14-year-olds) so yeah.

Is that strange to you, or is that normal? Like class size, etc.?
