I've been thinking
I've been thinking of starting my own zine. Does anyone make them? I'd like some help, since I have no idea where to start.

That'd be so cool, Bookbug!
I make a newspaper called [MY LAST NAME HERE] Times (my last name starts with a 't' so it works), and I use Open Office (like Microsoft Word) to do it. Usually my newspapers have about 5-6 pages, but my first edition only had a front and a back. :)
You might be wondering how exactly I make my newspapers look like newspapers (I'm telling you this since newspapers are kind of like zines/magazines). There are many templates that you can use in Open Office and Microsoft Word, which may be a good place to start, but instead I use text boxes so that I can format the articles the way I like. My newspaper goes out to my "subscribers" for free, and they are able to submit things, which is always fun. I love seeing what they are going to submit next! :)
If you think all of this is too much for you, there are also many online websites (some of which that are free) that you can use to make your magazine. Just Google "Online Magazine Creator" or something similar like that.
I hope this helps!

Microsoft Publisher is pretty good as well. I have Open Office too. (it is free)
I ran my school's newspaper once, (with barely any outside help, mind you) and the hardest part was getting the articles lined up correctly. Once, somebody turned in a story called "Caskets or Freedom" and I (accidentally) put Caskets of Freedom. Boy she was mad at me. But not too much. And I had it like a newspaper with the writing in columns. But the people complained that they could not read it that way. (Can you imagine how upset I was at that? I liked the columns!) But I *sigh* changed it for them. I had a readers poll going, too. But most people didn't do it.
To start, you need some articles. Then, edit them, (I was the editor as well as the guy who ran the deal) and choose your layout. Once you have done that, start putting articles into their spots. Add some pictures, move stuff around, play with fonts and color schemes, and finally finish it.
Sammie says bbio. Not all magazine have biographies in them, Sammie.
