Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Parents. A very

Parents. A very complicated subject. Most teens don't have a good relationship with their parents, but I'm really close to mine, especially my mom. I feel like we're friends, and we're always just chatting with each other. I feel like I can tell her anything.

My relationship with my dad is different. We're close, but not friend-close. We do lots of stuff together, like garage sale hunting, camping out in the backyard, and gardening. I talk to him a lot, but I can't tell him anything like I can with my mom.

I can't trust my parents.

Why not?

Sorry if I'm prodding too much, but why can't you trust your parents?

Every time I've decided to trust them, they've misused whatever it was I trusted them with.

How do you mean?

I love my mum and dad a lot, but anyone can be in a bad mood. I mean, aren't you sometimes in a bad mood? If my parents are in a bad mood, I try to stay away.

My relationship with my parents is like yours, Bookbug. My mom and I are really close, and I feel sometimes we're like sisters--I can tell her anything. I kid around with my dad a lot, but I never pour my heart out to him or ask him very often for advice.

My dad is a punster. I love him. I groan extra-loudly for his lame puns. Wink

I LOVE my Mom and Dad! My Mom understands a LOT of things, and so does my Dad! I usually pour out my social problems with my Dad (He and I are the extroverts in the house) and other stuff. With my Mom I pour out problems with my body, questions about my body, and stuff like that! With both, I let them know if I am homesick when I am sleeping over at a friend's (If they call) and I tell them my day. I am glad I love BOTH my parents equally.

I ask my mom about social problems and for advice because she always knows what to say to people. I also ask her about my body. I ask my dad what stuff means.

I have a similar relationship with my parents, Bookbug. I am very close to my mom. I can tell her almost anything. But I do try to stay away when she's in a bad mood.

I am less close to my dad, and he's away at work a lot. We do have a lot of time on the weekends though.
