Meeting CBers...

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Meeting CBers...

Meeting CBers...

Lately I've been thinking about what it would be like if we had a giant gathering of CBers young and old (and Admins, of course). I don't think this would ever play out--not saying any of you all are axe murderers (TFioS reference!!), but there's logistics and parents and all that. But it's so awesome thinking about seeing you all in person.

Would you like to meet any CBers in particular in person who you don't already see? I'd really like to see all of you, but I'd really want to reach out to some of the older friends on here I had waaaaay back--ZNZ, Olive, Ima, etc. (I don't think any of them get on any more. Cry) How would you react if you did meet a CBer in person? Do you think anyone in your life is a CBer in disguise? (Besides all of you who are already friends, of course. ;) )

I've always thought that would be really cool! It would be fun if we had try and guess who everyone was!

I think someone got to hear Joe's voice or see a video of him, so I think he'd be obvious to some. And I would recognize some people from their profile icons on the long-forgotten Cricket Facebook page.

Yes that is correct WritingWarrior, I've made audio recordings of myself, but right now they're all deleted from my pages. And there are videos of me on the WWW to make stalking me even easier. ;)

Plus I'm 6 feet tall so I'd be pretty noticable...

What is WWW? I think I've seen a video of you before. It came up when I was looking for your blog.

World Wide Web?

Aha! That would make sense! Thanks Admin!

Me and Blu talk to Joe on Twitter a lot so we'd be able to recognize him.

Joe, are you really six feet tall?

I would so love to meet all of you! I used to have dreams where I met some of you, but I don't know if I could ever meet anyone in person.

All of you, but I would like to see L and SC and Tovah and Quintus - those people who have gone and we just can't find them! Thast's one of the most annoying things about CB, I think. But it can't be helped. I would also like to see some newer faces, or those who are still here; BHR and Cori and Mag Fan especially. And if we count our newest arrivals who might (or might not) stay, I would say Kienyen. (So you're finally on here? ;) ) We're friends through other ways, and though we've never met, that would be awesome!

Mmkay. Let's see.

- Ruby

- TNO

- BHR

- all y'all, really.

Anyway, if I met any of y'all in real life, I'd probably kinda freak out. I don't know how that could happen, though. Like, accidentally meeting a CBer IRL? Maybe. But how would you know?? Like, how would that come up in conversation??

I saw an older thread once--I have no idea where--but it was something about coming up with a code word you could slip into conversation if you met a CBer.

I think meeting a CBer in person would amazing. I'd espcially love to meet Moss, BHR, True and Theo. And all of you really.

Moss, you're so close! Come over here!

I think that would be really cool. There could be 5 different conventions in different states, where the CB nearby could attend?

I've had dreams about meeting BHR. For obvious reasons, particularly if you took the hints...

Oh yeah, and I'd love to meet Theo. I actually have found quite a few of the CBers' social media accounts, since I am terrific at deductively Googling, right-clicking, and taking hints and clues.

I actually think that maybe what Cricket could do is organize some kind of Cricket magazine convention and invite everyone so we CBers could all just go to the convention, meet up, and then ta-da!

But that's probably not going to happen anytime soon. Though maybe the Admin may have a bit of feedback on the concept. As unlikely as it is, maybe you could pass it on to the editors?

I'm kind of fearing the day that the CB will go offline and I will lose all contact with most of the CBers (the ones whose social media information I don't have). It would be like the cancellation of a TV show you really liked and the result of you being cut off from all your dream friends on the show, only in this case it would be worse because these would be REAL PEOPLE.

OK, I've passed this comment on to the editors. You're right that we're not likely to organize a convention. But we also have no plans to go offline. Cricket has been around since 1973. A good story is eternal, and we plan to go on forever.

Many of you may go on to study literature, writing, etc. If you mention Cricket's Chatterbox in the author bio on the jacket flap of your first novel, you may find each other that way . . . or at publishers or library or reading convention. "Did you read Cricket? Did you ever log on the the Chatterbox? Do you remember the ski lodge? . . ."

I've seen a few social media accounts too.

I've always thought that a convention would be really cool, although I know it will probably never happen.
