Type 1 Diabetes
I am writing now to ask for your help. I probably don't know any of you, and if I do know you, you will know me by the name Owlfire, but that is not my point. My point is that I have something called Type 1 Diabetes, which is an auto-immune disease that makes it so that you no longer make insulin, and because of that you have to count carbohydrates in everything you eat, check your blood sugar by pricking your finger at least 6 times a day, and other annyoing stuff like that. So, DIABETES SUCKS! And no, I am not fat, I eat healthy, and exercise often. Many people have T1D, and no one knows how T1D happens. T1D still sucks though, so I want to find a cure. I support JDRF, an organization that works to find a cure for T1D. Every year, JDRF does a walk in Seattle that I participate in, called Beat the Bridge.
If you are T1D yourself, I would love to hear from you. T1D unite!
Owlfire, we aren't allowed to post requests for money on Chatterbox, but Type 1 Diabetes is a good topic for discussion. We probably do have other Chatterboxers who have it. It sounds like you are doing the right things to keep yours under control and help find a cure. Thank you.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Owlfire! :( My cousin has T1D. She says it's AWEFUL. SHe was really sick before she was diagnosed, so she's glad that she is feeling better. But she has a huge bruise on her arm where she gets her shot four times a day. I'm so sorry!

Boy, that sounds TERRIBLE!
Does type one diabetes ever go away or is it for life?
