I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!
I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!
So, Saturday was my History Day Competition (see the thread I posted a bit back for more details on HD). I entered a website titled Myra Bradwell: "Law relating to Women". I had my judging (which was SOO much fun!!!) and then that afternoon was the awards ceremony and I was SOOO nervous and I ended up with 1st place in my category with a superior rating and then theres all these special awards I qualified for and slowly they went through all but one, the Deborah Pickman CLiffords womens History award, and they started announcing it and I thought it wasn't me and I was sooo disapointed but then my dad pushed me up- I HAD won it, but they had mispronouced my name!!!!! I was VERY happy and relieved all my work payed off (literally, the women's history award consists of $250!!)

OHMYGOSH! Abigail, that's fantastic! Congratulations! I'm really excited for you!!!
I am HUGE HUGE HUGELY into women's history, and that is so incredible you won an award for it!!!
So, since I am a huge insane history buff of women's history and that's what I want to do career wise (well, history in general), who was Myra Bradwell, and what did she do? Cause, (shockingly I admit, since I research into this stuff heavily just for fun), I don't know.
But anyways, CONGRATS!!! I'm officially looking into History Day for next year.

@BHR
I, too, did not know who Myra Bradwell was until History Day. Turns out shes this awesome lady who fought for her rights to pratice law. Both the Illionois Supreme Court and the United States siad she couldn't, but eventually they granted her a license. She also founded the CHicago legal news, which was one of the best law journals of the time. I suggest looking her up in WIkipedia, her story is pretty epic (why don't we learn about her instead of, say, Abigail Adams? Not that I don't like Abigail Adams, but Myra Bradwell did a lot more for us females) Hope that helps!!
Oh, and I really suggest doing History Day- I enjoy it SOOO much!!
