Hello again, my

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hello again, my

Hello again, my dear friends. So, I did get glasses! (Not a big prescription, but you know.)

The only thing is I'm scared to wear them to school. I don't want all the attention, and of course everyone's going to make a BIG deal about it. I can't even walk by my sisters without them asking when I'm going to wear my glasses! BAH! And I got contacts, but they kinda dry out my eyes...

You should wear your glasses whenever the doctor said you should. You might be surprised at school. People may just notice you look different, say, "Oh, I like your glassses!" and then get on with their day.

I just saw some old friends a few weeks ago and all they said was, "Oh, I don't remember you with glasses." And I said, "When you last saw me I didn't have them." Not a big deal. Just a fact of life.

Or, if you like, you could have some clever reply ready, like: "All the better to see you with!"

I totally get what you mean about not wanting people to make a big deal out of it. I for one don't have glasses, but I've been in similar situations. It can be annoying, but as Admin said, they'll probably make one or so comments, and then drop it. It'll be a bit of a surprise to people simply cause they're used to you without them. But LOTS of kids get glasses. People get them at all points in their lives. I even know some kids like that.

I recommend you wear your glasses at home, and just get used to seeing them on your face and how they feel and all. Then, when kids ask about it, you won't feel quite so self concious. But don't worry, in a day or so, hardly anyone will notice you have glasses. It'll be like you've always had them.

@ Admin: Haha! That's a hilarious comeback!

I stole that line from the wolf!

I have glasses (This is my second pair: Iv'e worn glasses for about a year now) and I totally know what you mean! But like Admin and BHR said, people make a few comments and then ignore it. Trust me, everyone will think that the glasses are a part of you after a while!

I hope that you will be able to see things a bit clearer and better now, Blurry! Glasses are awesome, and if anyone makes fun of you for it, you can try and make a joke. I like that funny comeback that Admin made up, too! :)

But I stole that line from the Wolf, I didn't make it up!

Thanks admin and BHR. I know it's a stupid question because there are people much less fortunate than me in the world, so sorry.

And Nina and Katie. When I posted those weren't up yet. Thank you!

Think about it like a haircut.  Most people will inquire about it, but it's a fact of how you look, and you will most likely look better (or at least see a ton clearer).

Spamster in his spamster cage says nypw.  New York pew.  Yeah, New York can be kind of smelly, sometimes...

I didn't want to wear my glasses to school when I first got them either. It isn't as bad as it might seem; not one person said anything negative about my glasses! In fact, there was one kid in my class who didn't notice I had glasses until two years later!

I was afraid to wear my glasses to school when I first got them, but no one mentioned them! The teacher asked me if I needed to take them off to read or to see the board, but that was the only question I received about them. And they help you see a lot better!

@Admin: I like the comeback you stole from the Wolf! =D

Please don't tell the wolf on me! Especially if he's hungry. . . .

Yeah, that would not be a good idea to do, Admin.

Blurry, Mag Fan asked me to tell you that she was  afraid to wear her glasses to dance class, but when she did, the other girls on her class kinda looked at them and went on with the rest of the class without a word. (She's reeeeeaaaaally busy, so she can't come on here, but I told her about this post, if you don't mind.)

You will totally get used to them. To make a loooooooooong story short, when I first got mine (like six years ago now) I was the only one in the family other than my mom who had them, and I thought I looked like Molly the American Girl, so I didn't wear them forever, and my eyesight got really bad because of it, and about 3 years ago, I started wearing them again (I literally could/can't not see 2 feet in front of me) and not I can't imagine myself without them. So if your worrying about looks, then don't worry, they'll blend right in to you.

If you just don't want to wear them in general, you kind of have to. eventually it will bother you,to not wear them, and you won't be abe to feel them. Not a big prescription will turn into the opposite if you don't. Avoid that. I thought that not earing them would make my eyesight better (I was like 7 don't judge) See where it got me :(

I need bifocals. They're actually trifocals. I have problems focusing. I don't mind, even before I was assured a billion times that it is 100% normal for kids to need bifocals. I don't care :) I love being different.

As it is I am the black sheep of the family =D

Consider it a Pollyanna trait.
