Bad Eyesight: HELP!

Bad Eyesight: HELP!
So, lately I've noticed that I have bad eyesight. The words on the Smartboard are always blurry. I need help, because I'm self-consious and am too embarrassed to tell my parents. I also don't want glasses! What should I do?
You should tell your parents and have an eye exam. Glasses are not bad, and it's important to see well, especially as a student.

I had bad eyesight, so I told my mom, and she took me to the eye doctor, and I now have glasses. At first, I was embarrassed at the thought of wearing glasses in public (see my post Glasses in DTE), but now that I have them and I can see everything so clearly, I really like them.

It's ok Blurry! I didn't want to get glasses either. But it's not really that bad ;)

I have glasses. They are wonderful. I love them. See my post in Glasses...

Get glasses as soon as you can, because if you go without glasses you'll WRECK your eyes.

If you're having trouble seeing, you should definitely tell your parents. Glasses are, as people have said, really good and helpful. Depending on your age, contacts can be worth the extra effort for sports and other times when you don't want stuff on your face.

Do they really make it better?

YES, glasses make life easier. Much easier to see things and do things! I wear glasses, too, and I was embarrassed to wear them in the first place. When I put my glasses on for the first time, it immediately made my life easier! So don't feel ashamed if you need glasses! They make life clearer. :)

My sister has glasses, and she really thinks that they help. But she was pestering Dad for about a year or two before she actually got examined. I need them, at least according to the doctor the last time we went (about a year ago). But I haven't gotten any, nor any other exams, and the last I've heard of them was in May. I often have to squint at school, even though I'm in the fourth row or so at school.

Exactly! And it IS embarrassing because I'm constantly asking the person next to me what it says on the board. So I think I'm going to tell my mom after school on Monday...? I remember 2 years ago I had to go to the eye doctor, and I got examined and they said that I didn't need glasses, but to come back in 2 years just to make sure. Well, it's been 2 years, and I need them!

Hi, Blurry!
I have glasses and like them, and it's really fun to pick out new frames. Just make sure they fit properly, aren't falling off you're face if you are active and aren't squeezing your temples too hard.

Thanks Daffodil, and everyone! It's really helpful! I also read through Mag Fan's thread, which also inspired me. Thanks!

I used to HATE my glasses but then I went 4ever without wearing them, and my eyesight got waaaaaaaaay worse.
It actually just started with reading glasses then ran from there.
*sigh*

I told my mom, and she scheduled an eye appointment, but it's not until March 19! :O

Definitely get glasses! I've had glasses since I was six. (Yes, my eyesight is that bad.) I was embarrassed at first but I quickly got over it, and people got totally used to me with glasses. Actually, I hardly notice when some people get glasses nowadays, since glasses have become fashion statements of sorts. You'll be so happy you got them! I got contacts a few months ago and now I wear them almost every time I go out of the house (which, since I'm homeschooled, isn't too often.)
