Arrg! I'm partially
Arrg! I'm partially lactose intolerant, which means that my boy can't process lactose. OK, in a way it's good, because I prefer almond milk over regular milk, but I live on cheese and yoghurt (I think I spelled that right), both of which have lactose in them! I know, I could probably get a pill at the pharmacy so that I can eat them, but I've had a lot of bad reactions to medicines, so I don't really want to go taking any just so that I can eat my cheese and yoghurt. Is anyone else on here lactose intolerant, who shares my misery? If so, here are a couple of questions for you.
1. Do you ever crave a milk product?
2. If so, what do you eat instead of that food?
3. What are your symptoms when you eat a dairy product? (I get a really, really bad stomach ache, and feel almost dizzy.)
Thank you for sharing your experiences with me!

Aww, I'm sorry! I'm not lactose intolerant, but I have some suggestions.
YOGURT SUBSTITUTIONS:
-smoothies
-coconut milk pudding (tastes like coconut yogurt!)
-sorbet
-almond milk/rice milk yogurt
CHEESE SUBSTITUTIONS:
It depends on what you like!
Instead of cheese junk food like Cheetos, try pretzels or bbq chips.
Instead of cheese on sandwiches, try eggs or ham.
Also, you can get milk free cheese made of rice, if you like that!
DID YOU KNOW OREOS ARE MILK FREE? :)
Enjoy and good luck!

Thank you for all the suggestions, Nora the Singer. I'll mention them to my mom the next time she goes grocery shopping. My dad makes home-made pizza, and he bought a water-based shredded cheese for my pizza. I was a little more gooey than usual, but it was a good substitute. On Saturday, without thinking, my mom poured me a glass of regular milk for dinner, and, without realising the difference, I drank half of it before I caught on. So I was pretty miserable the rest of the weekend, and I still don't feel quite right. I have one question: do you know of a non-milk substitute for heavy cream? Because my dad makes this delicious hot chocolate, and to give it its flavor, he makes chocolate whipped cream which he adds to the milk. ;P Unfortunately, I get a stomach ache whenever I have it! :( So please help me!

I don't think there's a dairy substitute for heavy cream, but I think there is whipped cream made that's dairy free, but it comes in a can. I've had some experience with dairy substitutes, and in general I find things from coconut, almond or rice to taste better than soy.

Oh, that's so sad! I'm sorry! Rice milk with cereal is actually really good and tastes fine, and almond milk is good to drink on its own. For heavy cream, I searched online for you and found this!
Allow a can of full fat coconut milk to settle (about 1/2 hour). The coconut cream will rise to the top and can easily be skimmed off. To substitute cream in recipes, use equal parts coconut cream for the dairy cream.
I hope this helps! Try dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. I'm pretty sure it's milk free, and it's good for you as well! If it's too bitter, you can always add sugar! ;)

Oh my gosh, that kind of sounds like me. I'm not lactose intolerant exactly, at least I've never been diagnosed. But I often get seriously nauseous and often throw up.
I CANNOT eat certain cheeses. Take ricotta. It's like death on a plate (okay not literally). I get seriously sick to my stomach, and end up vomiting a lot afterward. I can't eat lasagna either. Anything with a whole lot of cheese usually makes me sick. But I can eat macaroni and cheese. Depending. I've eaten one kind that made me SO sick. So I'm really careful about what kind of cheeses I eat.
I also can't drink milk with certain meals. I haven't been able to narrow just what. It's random. Some meals I'd think I'd be able to drink milk with, and some I'd think would be bad, but are fine.
But always, I end up sick to my stomach and often vomiting. I really, sadly, have no advice as to how to get around it. I myself don't know how. It's literally trial and vomit for me. But I can sympathize!

I'm not lactose intolerant, but I DO have allergies, so I can't eat certain nuts and with some fruits, I can't eat them raw. Its something with the proteins in them, that once they're cooked it okay. I've had my allergies for a long time, so its really just a part of me, I don't notice it much:)

Poor you! I'm not lactose intolerant, but...
Are you sure that cheese and yogurt make you sick? I've read a little about lactose intolerance and I was under the impression that those were the only two dairy products that don't contain lactose, because the cultures used to make them ate all the lactose up.
Maybe I'm wrong - dunno.
Vanilla soymilk is crazy good! I love it in cereal, to drink, etc.
