We had an unplanned discussion about it in Social Studies.  It was very interesting.  I think that it's an example of how we should just decide on some sort of budget, already.  I asked why they didn't shut down the Education Department, because it's not exactly necessary and the teacher said he agreed with me!  So, in short, the loss of a government is more educational than Conquistadors.  We also got an abbrieviated version of going over our homework.

You have a valid point ! I mean , I respect the President , and the government but COME ON . This is just ridiculous ! Park closed .. people aren't getting paid .. It's crazy .

Doesn't it have something to do with ObamaCare? And yeah, it's crazy. I mean, really America is already in really bad shape and then it goes and shuts down it's GOVERNMENT for goodess sake!

You can't visit Liberty Island or the Smithsonian or any Natiional Parks or Monuments, it's crazy! And think of all those people who worked at those places, rangers, tour guides, and others, they're out of work! If they have families, what are they going to do? Personally, I think that the government people are being stubborn. End of rant.

Anyway. I want them to just make up their minds and get on with it! We need a government, people!

I saw something the other day on the internet that said that if you called the Government, you would get a voicemail that said "Hello, we are not available now, please leave a message after the beep."

We briefly discussed it in Humanities and on either Tuesday or Thursday we're going to watch a video on the subject, which makes me unbelievably happy.

That sounds horrible! I read that on the board in the library that says "WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE WORLD THIS WEEK" but it was put into confusing terms and I didn't really understand. But wow. I wish I had Social Studies this term, but I don't. So... I'm just going to have to actually read the paper for this one.

I have the utmost respect for everyone in the government , but this is SO petty . President Obama should just STOP spending SO much . We're already in debt by about 11 TRILLION . It's so amazingly crazy .

I hear you, Vida, and we don't want any heated political discussions/arguments on Chatterbox, but it's not just President Obama who is spending. The US government has checks and balances. The people hope their elected representatives will work with the president to solve the problems.

Also because of the shutdown, the CDC can't track the flu, suspicious foods can't be investigated, people are not receiving food stamps, and people on some sort of medical government waiting list will have delayed surgeries. Which is...bad. Oh, and no NASA!
