CB Dictionary Project:

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

CB Dictionary Project:

CB Dictionary Project:

The Chatterbox is an amazing incubator of creative thought, randomness, and intelligent ideas for readers of Cricket, their friends, cousins, and siblings. It's a place to RP, state "What are You Wearing?", and profess your nerdiness/Nerdfighteriness (not a word...yet--DFTBA!) to those of equal nerdiness/Nerdfigheriness. A place to fangirl/boy (is there a gender-neutral verb? Please inform me), write, and create. A place in which many have found a safe place to talk about their problems.

So let's make a dictionary with all of the terminology that has come out of it!

It's amazing how many unique terms people have coined out of the Chatterbox (Actually, many things spring out of MuseBlog, but they have become a part of the ChatterBox nonetheless), probably because of the minor amounts of intervention and heaping servings of encouragement from Admins (A free market forum!) and the brilliant ideas of users. Some notable examples: Pie Wars, Middle Pages, "What Are You Wearing?" thread, Silly Stupid Smiley Story, DTRA, TCCP, Spammy, Debate Era, TOP/Gloop/Poke, the Author Pairs, SI, Lemming War, Warriors RP Era, Smiley Buddies, the world domination through jellybean thread, Random Thread, Add-On...the list goes on and on.

So why go through with this project? One, it will be an amazing testament to the Chatterbox. Two, new users could use it to decipher much of the randomness that floats around threads. And three, perhaps, with lots of help from users old and new, we could finish it in time for the anniversary of the first posts on the Chatterbox (June 18th, 2008)!

My idea: We all post our terms (they can be inside jokes, names of famous threads, popular books or topics amongst Chatterbox users, or simply legendary CB terminology--anything that pertains to the Chatterbox in some way) with definitions to this page. Then, we alphabetize them and post them, in alphabetical order, on another thread for the public to see after editing and whatnot.

Who's in? I am!

How about fan/person?

A couple I forgot.

Captcha: The thing at the bottom of the typing field that asks "What code is in the image?" Sometimes it says funny things or something that's relevant to the comment or post and the CBer mentions it. Some CBers give their Captcha a name. Daffodil calls hers Squishy , Joe Dosie Doe calls his Rodney, and Blonde Heroines Rule calls hers Cappie.

CBer: Chatterboxer

Squishy says YHOG. I am not a hog, Squishy! I was born in the year of the snake!

So, someone (not sure who yet) invented a CC, or Character Chat. Does that count?

Okay, but what is a CC?

I invented the CC. (Yes, I'm Constantine. I'm a Muppets fan.)

A CC (Character Chat) is a takeoff on the concept of the SI. It's like an SI in the way that we all pretend to be characters. But there's no guessing, we have more fun pretending to be our characters, and all the characters can talk with each other. For example:

Mike Wazowski: So, you live in Africa?

Simba: Yup! I'm the lion king!

Mike: Wow! And I'm just a scarer at Monsters, Inc.

Simba: What's a scarer?

I thought it would be more fun to have more time to pretend to be our characters, rather than have the fun pretending to be our favorite book or movie character cut short by someone's (correct) guess.

Rodney says bito. Bite-O? Some sort of cheesy "as seen on TV" thing that bites people, perhaps?

What are you wearing thread: thread where you write what you're wearing.

Cricketeers= Anyone who regularly goes on this website:)

Plot Bunnies= I guess this one isn't just pertaining to this website, but it's still a fun one.. those little things in your head when you're writing that makes you start to veer off course of your intended plot line. At least that's how I describe it.

Marauder's Era [RP]= Or if this isn't totally accurate, please change the name to the correct term we've used.. A Harry Potter themed Role-Play taking place during the time of the Marauders (Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, James Potter, Remus Lupin)

Sir Spam-A-Lot says 'fubm'.... Fun Under Baltimore's Mango????....?????? For Unto Books, Move!... ???? Whatever

Addition: I would also include regular Cricket magazine readers who may not frequent this website in the definition of Cricketeers.

Crossover Fanfiction= Any short story that consists of different worlds and characters from different Fandoms that someone chooses to collide into one epic story. The one that stands out most for me is TNO's Doctor Who/Twilight crossover. Now I'm actually a bit of a Whovian:)

Sir Spam-A-Lot say raeu. That's part of my middle name as a matter of fact.

This thread is for definitions, so please what is a  whovian?

@Daffodil: A "Whovian" is someone who is really into Doctor Who (an English television show about a time travelling alien who looks like a human but has two hearts and is a bit on the insane side). There are different levels of intensities of being a Whovian I guess. Some people would say a Whovian is someone who has watched not only the new episodes, but the old ones, too. Others would say it's anyone who enjoys immensely watching any of them and thinking about possibilities in the plot line and stuff like that.
